Seems like the lineup in the first game was aggressive at the plate and swinging early on. Looks like the regulars are back to slow it down take good pitches till you get in a hole. I'll say this again, for those of you who missed it the first time. The Sox got Hughes out of the game by waiting him out with full counts to where he had to throw the ball in the zone. They clubbed it and he was gone. Go watch the replays. I watched the game too... it went like this as I saw it Pedey K foul foul no out 4 pitch single, mookie K, foul, swing K out 3 pitches... ortiz ball foul in play double 3 pitches... Hanley foul foul ball, in play out 4 pitch... Naps K foul ball called strike. 4 pitches... and that was just the first... nine total pitches in second ... third inning Pedey one pitch single... mookie foul, ball (2 pitches) and the screw up out ... Ortiz foul, foul, double ... Hanley called strike, single ... Nap ball, in play out ... Holt ball, foul, Out ... 14 pitches anyway that is the aggression I was talking about and it worked a pretty good and the game was going a lot smoother.

Can we just move Hanley to 1st base and find a real LFer? your acting as if 1st base would be a walk in the park for hanley. Napoli has saved the team from plenty of throws that would be errors if Hanley was there. Trust me him being at 1st wouldn't solve anything

If you asked someone to guess Porcello's line just after reading these comments, would they ever guess 4 K 0 BB? One rough inning where he gave up some loud contact that fell in. Otherwise has pitched well-ish today. Still some hard outs, but I'll take it. Peguero has had an interesting day in left, haha.

So it looks like Phil Hughes just sucks. What we saw in the first game apparently wasn't the offense coming to life.

Sox playing like they're happy with the win today - and forgetting they're actually playing tonight.

This was like those 2 games in the Angels series where we thought the Sox were back. But nope we still stink...

Once again...the worst offense ever.

I missed the first game darn it. 6 runs would have been nice to watch.
Not getting what Norm is saying. Box score has Hughes with 77 pitches 56 strikes. Sounds like the sox were swinging not taking.

I hope Hanley pinch hits for Peguero later too.

The middle of the order is the most inept part of it.

What can you even say about this game? Porcello has pitched great. The offense took the night off.

Since when was Trevor May a Cy Young candidate? To be fair, he had a 3.11 FIP entering this game and is a reasonably well-regarded prospect.

Mookie now with the sub .300 OBP.
I thought he was just unlucky?

Hanley better be batting. Getting the tying run at the plate adds way more pressure in the 9th.
