Right now. I just gonna root for individual players. I don't get Hanley I thought he was dying to come here. He doesn't play like it. I guess I want more people to emulate Petey. No one will ever be him but if he could just rub off on more people. The Sox just got Pablo and Hanley it scary if this is what we have to deal with. I can complain all I want it's don't there here for all the good and bad.
Part of me is pumped because they have some money coming off the books but I am scared if we make two more moves like these. The reporters don't understand the prospects they want them like Bryant. These guys are considered busts to them. We know better especially the hardest positions they are developing. A 22 year old catcher, shortstop ,center fielder and starting pitcher. It's the hardest to pull off. Not to mention we have another catcher a little older but very good also. I don't care what they say all the teams out there would want what the Sox have going regarding these kids. I see better prospects like Bryant but no one has what the Sox have up the middle. I hope the FO doesn't get panicky and deal one of these kids.
I am just trying to throw some positivity on what's going on right now. I more upset with the veterans than anything.

Time to see what the young guys can. I'd like to see Kelly in the pen. See if he can handle the 8th or 9th. Get a look at Brian Johnson too. JBJ up and Rusney back down soon. Unless, Rusney starts to show some aptitude towards MLB baseball.

How in the world is Oakland's record as bad as it is?

Going to my first game of the year Sunday, not as pumped as i usually am to go after the way they "played" yesterday. Ehh who am i kidding im always excited to go to games. Last game i went to was the first game of Jeter's last series against the Sox in Fenway, of course he didnt play though but Castillo did homer.
2013 was the last year i consistently went. Went to the Sunday KC game after the marathon, believe it was the first game of a double header. Also went to the AL East clincher against the Jays(ran into my girl Jenny Dell) and game 6 of the World Series(standing room to the right of the Coca Cola sign, awful "seat" but epic atmosphere and game, crowd reaction to Victorino's bases clearing double is something i'll never forget).

They're putrid defensively. Sounds like some other team I know Fangraphs has us -2 and them -17, so just imagine that.

Hoping the A's sweep us this weekend. I wouldn't. If you root for a team you root for them throughout.....but its OK to complain endlessly when they disappoint you The Hanley situation in LF could get ugly this weekend, though. It appears the writers are targeting him now for his play and the fact he ducked them last night. Moving forward it might make the most sense to trade Napoli, DH Hanley, and make Ortiz your 1B against RHH (platoon with a RH hitter to face lefties). All these years we've protected Papi from the field so he wouldn't get hurt, but at this point what would it matter? And I'd bet he'd be much better at 1B than Hanley, allowing him to contribute more while his legendary career here fades away. We could do this for the rest of this year plus '16, salvaging Hanley as a pure bat and nothing else.

I'm not sure if he's lazy or just plain stupid, but forgetting how many outs there are is not something that is ever acceptable. I've overlooked the fact that it seems like he's not working hard at getting better in the field and his ridiculously stupid baserunning mistakes. It's like he has taken "Manny being Manny" to the next level. But he's not Manny when Manny was being Manny. Not even close. When I was a kid playing baseball and my dad was the coach, he never yelled at any kid for making an error. But the kids who forgot how many outs there were? Yeah, we all learned not to make mental errors because there is NO excuse for it unless you don't give a damn about playing baseball.

Awesome. I've been following his career; ESPN the Mag just did a piece on him in their pitching issue. A great or terrible Kelly start tomorrow will probably settle the 5th starter competition. In between will make it a tough call. Do you go with the veteran, knowing that Wright will be useful in long relief? Or do you go with the real possibility that Kelly might be the 3rd bullpen guy they need after Koji and Taz, plus the knowledge that Wright will invisibly make the next day's pitcher (and the relievers that follow him) better?

So, I took FanGraphs WAR and, after moving some of their position adjustment (still normed to higher offense levels) into league adjustment, substituted 9 * WPA for (Offense + League), which is to say, I included clutch hitting. I also substituted DRS for UZR, because I'm convinced that the former is now more accurate. I also added pitch framing runs for the catchers.
And here is your resulting Actual (Descriptive, not Predictive) WAR board for the 2015 Boston Red Sox to date:
Name Actual WAR Per 150 Mookie Betts 2.2 6.0 Ryan Hanigan 0.7 5.3 Xander Bogaerts 1.7 5.0 Shane Victorino 0.8 3.3 Dustin Pedroia 1.1 3.1 Mike Napoli -0.1 -0.3 Brock Holt -0.3 -0.9 David Ortiz -0.4 -1.1 Daniel Nava -0.3 -1.7 Pablo Sandoval -0.6 -1.8 Blake Swihart -0.4 -1.9 Sandy Leon -0.3 -2.5 Allen Craig -0.5 -2.8 Rusney Castillo -0.4 -3.5 Hanley Ramirez -2.1 -6.3 J. Bradley Jr. -0.3 -9.0

Is this last years team or? Some RHB/LHB argument? So frustrating. If you're going to move Betts down, at least put Bogaerts second.

The Red Sox had a pitcher, Greg A. Harris, from 1989-1994 who could pitch with either arm. The Sox would not allow him to throw lefthanded, but he got a chance in one game with the Expos in 1995. Until now he was the only pitcher in major league history to pitch with both arms in the same game. He had a glove specially designed with two thumbs that now is in the Hall of Fame.
