He's going to the GCL, so probably not. I don't recall any highly regarded (as in, not roster filler) college guys going to the GCL recently. He is a sophomore, which makes him a bit younger, but otherwise, sorta surprising. Wonder if the late sign also has something to do with it? And I suppose they could easily still send him to Lowell later this summer if they wanted to. Myles Smith did. Jake Cosart was a JuCo, but he did. Fact that both were "young" college pitchers, like Lakins the draft-eligible soph, probably means they're fair comps. Smith got a one-game cup of coffee in Lowell before pitching in Greenville the next year.

This guy Andy Perez that the Sox signed hit .290 with 35 stolen bases and made only one error in 208 chances. How did this guy not get drafted?

Also, he stole 35 but got caught 10 times, which is barely even above the break-even point to make it worth stealing (typically it's about 75%, iirc). Seems like a typical NDFA....... until you see his headshot. GIVE THIS MAN ALL OF THE SIGNING BONUS CAP MONEY

I don't know how this draft will shake out but I am impressed with the slot money available to the Sox and what they got signed. Out of all the unsigned picks only three had top 500 grades left. (Brakeman,Jenco, and Reyes).

Also Ginkel if you count PG, but Ginkel and Jenco were both only ranked by one or the other, and we ALL knew that we weren't going to sign Reyes, so the only possible disappointment is with Brakeman.

The only other signings I think it's reasonable to expect are any of the unranked HS guys--maybe James Nelson out of Georgia. Reckon he could be available for +/-$100k.

By my calculations, that puts them $39,510 over the slot $$ + 5% overage. Seems odd they'd go over that threshhold i general, and especially by such a small amount.
I'll have to double check my spreadsheet.
ADD: I had $250k as a bonus for Valentin. We don't know what he signed for yet. My guess is that he signed for $200k or less. Then the Sox are under slot + the 5% overage.

So if I've done the math correctly, based on Brakeman's bonus, can we speculate that Valentin got ~$200k, assuming all the bonus pool money is now gone?

FWIW mlbdraftcountdown.wordpress.com/2015/06/14/best-value-picks-by-round/"16th Round: Marc Brakeman, RHP, Stanford University (Boston Red Sox) Brakeman entered the season as a potential first-round pick, but an arm injury kept him sidelined for a huge chunk of the season. When he returned, it took him some time to get back the feel for his pitches. Once he did, he took off, pitching through the sixth-inning in four consecutive starts and tossing the first complete game of his college career. He made nine starts in all, finishing with a 2.91 ERA and a 35-to-11 K-BB ratio in 52.2 innings. Brakeman garners attention for his low-to-mid-90s fastball and a changeup that flashes plus. Even if he doesn’t hack it as a starter, he’ll make an elite reliever. If the Sox can manage to find the money to sign him."

Maybe the injury scarred him. I am over the moon with this haul. The last two drafts I like what they did I kinda feel like I understand there thinking looking into last year and this year. They adjusted good with the new rules. There three first rounders still not signed.

Maybe some of those are included in some of teh numbers we have.
