Nothing pen-wise in AAA either unless Kelly's hand is ok, and even then I would fully expect him to walk three batters in a row at one point. The real frustrating thing is that after Betances and Miller the Bronx team doesn't have anything much out there either. Except an overwhelming lead.

A comedy of errors and Ross-Breslow-Masterson pitching most of the game. What a way to end the first half against the division-leading rivals.

Andrew Miller still looks wrong to me without the beard.

Jesus, just looked it up, Sandoval's been worth negative 0.8 WAR this year

To be fair, Ross pitched pretty well. Fielded like ****, though.

Well I don't think that that game could have left a much worse taste in the mouth. Praying Buccholz isn't seriously hurt. Let's stomp them tomorrow and get some good mojo back.

Buchholz undergoing testing (MRI, etc.). Farrell didn't detect any dramatic difference from field level #RedSox

Leon said Buchholz' last pitch, a cutter, was noticeably softer than usual. Until then, didn't notice a difference. #RedSox

In conversation with Leon, Buchholz described elbow as "tight." Leon told him to be smart and not push it. No doubt #RedSox holding breath

Buchholz' last pitch, the cutter Leon referenced, registered 84. One inning earlier, he threw cutters to A-Rod and Teixiera at 87-89 #RedSox

Bogaerts on Buchholz: "He was the main guy on our staff that was doing a really consistent job. It would be tough to lose him for some time"
Food for thought: how many wins above replacement is Leon worth if his input causes Buchholz to get by with rehab rather than TJS?
In other news, no Stephen Drew in game 2 of the series... Yankees prospect Rob Refsnyder will be making his MLB debut. He was at the back end of Kiley McDaniels' top 200 prospects list with a 45+ FV back in February

I feel like almost every catcher would.

Shouldn't it be up to the pitcher and not the catcher to point out an injury? If not, should Swihart attend Med School this winter and bring Vazquez with him. My god. You guys will reach to criticize someone you don't like. Just like griping about Farrell in the game thread. Yup, last night is all on him. LOL

They said it on the radio when there is no pressure on Buch he is fine. Now all of a sudden he is hurt. It would be one to nothing still if Holt could make one stupid play. If a team offers a good package for Buch Ben is stupid to turn it down. He is no leader. Are you seriously blaming Buchholz for his elbow? Good leaders have indestructible elbow ligaments?

He is looking at the 5th straight year of declining numbers. id look into dumping him before he turns into a 1B/Dh who can't hit.

There aren't that many human beings capable of pitching 180 to 200 innings without breaking down -- that is physiology not psychology. It is perfectly reasonable to ask whether Clay Buchholz has the physical durability to be a frontline major league starter. It is mean-spirited to question his head or his heart.

I'm just saying perhaps not everyone runs out to the mound right away, maybe let another couple of pitches go by. And maybe not everyone calls for someone from the dugout despite the pitcher indicating he wants to go on.

This is one of the most pointless debates I've ever seen on this board.
The fact of the matter is there is something wrong with Buchholz's elbow, to the point where he needed an MRI. Who cares who pointed it out first?

This is not one start with this guy. This is six years . It's funny I watch this guy for six years. I wish I bet on this game. Where was he when we won the title. He could barely pitch because he slept with his kid on his shoulder. Do we remember this? I remember.

Questioning Clay's availability is real. There is the P.C way, and other ways. None bother me. He gets defended because he's a great talent, came from the system, and when healthy is an excellent pitcher. I miss Lester, and don't care who that bothers.

There's a big difference between questioning his durability and questioning his work ethic and desire. You know something about the former but just about nothing about the latter.
