Thanks for getting all that down. We'll see how it all plays out, but they do seem to have a little slack.

Just to be clear, the $982K over-slot money includes $632,000+ of net signing savings and $350,000- of 5% overage.

I just came across this article and found the quote interesting. Honestly, its something that has worried me about this year's approach.....having to wait on Groome before making offers to others. I feel like the majority of kids who are on the fence will lean towards college if you don't act quickly after the draft. Note that Brady Bramlett and Jordan Scheftz were two other guys who looked like they were signing after the draft only to decline in the end. I think Groome's deadline to decide needs to be a little earlier than Friday even if by a day or two....if he declines, there is work to do in negotiating with others that would be foolish to try to accomplish on Fri alone. My hope at this point: Groom for 3.85M Dalbec at slot Shawaryn for 500k Quintana for 300k.

Cant wait till this is over, I'm obessed keeping up with this and I'm also busy as hell at work starting a new project. haha

Heyman reporting the Red Sox have a $3.5M offer out to Groome, but he is holding out for more.

Heyman reporting the Red Sox have a $3.5M offer out to Groome, but he is holding out for more. I really hope that is not the Sox final offer. It would be a complete shame to lose Groome without at least offering around $4 million.

This makes me slightly more hopeful that they can get him signed for 3.8 or 3.9 mill. That should get them Quintana, too

Juan Carlos Abreu is official as he's on the GCL team. Kyle Hart showed up on the GCL roster too.

No reason to think it's their final offer. In fact, there is almost every reason to believe that it is not their final offer. As has been mentioned though, it would be wise to relay that final offer at some point today or tomorrow at the latest (to allow time for physicals and negotiations with others).

What time is the deadline? Is it at midnight - 1 minute after 11:59pm Thursday becomes Friday 7/15? Or is it at some point during the day like 4pm or something like that?

At 4:58 PM EDT on Friday this server is going to crash. But Groome will be in the haus, so we won't care.

I really, really hope you're right. Getting Groome in the fold will give the Sox three legitimate #1/1a upside starters, all in the low minors, but with the two younger ones especially polished for their ages. With that trio, the Sox will have their best pitching prospect collection arguably ever. Very exciting.

Hansen and Bowden were there in 2005 as well. Bowden wasn't yet in the category with the rest but Hansen absolutely was considered there. That was some outstanding upside and depth.

If that doesn't serve as a cautionary tale not to count your chickens until they've hatched, nothing will.

If that doesn't serve as a cautionary tale not to count your chickens until they've hatched, nothing will. That was a pretty exceptional hit rate. Four of the six players turned into All-Stars, three have a career bWAR over 20, and only one of the five is out of baseball 11 years later. Also, if the internet is to be believed, Michael Bowden is still only 29? One of my more out-there beliefs that I still cling to is that he would be a decent, down-rotation innings eater. He was miscast as a reliever because he's not a good bet to turn in a single scoreless inning and he's not the type whose stuff will play out. But he has a 3.05 ERA in 499 Triple-A innings, and he was good there as recently as last year. He's certainly better than Sean O'Sullivan.
