I watched a Gillislee highlight film and thought it was pretty funny that he was the Rb that ran the ball on the play that might have been the straw that broke the camels back with Jaimie Collins being dealt. Collins abandoned his gap and shot inside to try and make a big play, Gillislee cut outside into that gap and had a big gain. I do like the Pats draft so far but that tackle needs to put on a little size. IMO. He will be a good project for Dante.

Well of -course- NE trades down for a TE and another pick.
KC tweet: We traded TE James O’Shaughnessy & the 216th pick to the Patriots and acquired the 183rd pick from New England in return.
And of course:
Mike Loyko tweet: James O'Shaughnessy had the most Special Teams tackles of any Tight End in the NFL last season. Adds more roster value..

TE may be off the board as KC traded James Shaughnessy and a pick to Pats for 183.

If no TE, CB Howard Wilson and DE Carl Lawson would be nice picks. Very nice upside for both players.

We don't need a FS but I really like Lorenzo Jerome. Also the #3 and #4 rated centers in Tyler Orlosky and Jon Toth are still available.

Deatrich Wise Jr. DE, I like it. Had a good 2015, but wasn't great last year.
In 2015 he had 10.5 TFL and 8 sacks, 2016 it was 5.5 and 3.5

The last pick the Patriots just made has a bit of a injury history. Espn said that he'd make a good rotational player if he's healthy but he didn't run well in the combine.
Probably the best you're going to do in the 4th round anyways.

Yea he's not a speed rusher, he's a power guy. Most likely a DE for running plays and moves inside on passing downs. Mayock said he always thought he had more to give and felt he didn't think his team got everything out of him.

I just heard his frame might be big enough to carry more weight and move inside eventually.
Might mitigate the poor run time of he can.

He would need to add a lot of weight to be a full-time DT. Maybe, I like the weight he's at. 5th year senior so he's a little older already. Perfect size for a run stoping DE and pass rushing DT in my opinion. If he gets bigger he could lose more speed. With Guy and Him you've really added some weapons to push the center of the line on passing downs.

Not sure we should expect full time anything. But, yes, situationally reducing inside.

I'm not talking about playing time, just his position. If he gets bigger he wouldn't be able to play DE, so he'd be just a DT. I think he could see a good amount of playing time next year if they see Rivers as more of an OLB rather than DE. The type of player that can get some pressure, but not a ton of sacks and holds up very well against the run.
I just love all 3 picks.

James Shaughnessy better make an impact because they could have had SS Nate Gerry a guy they liked. TE Bucky Hodges was still on the board, along with FS Jerome and the #3-4 center in draft. Plus a bunch more, a ton of talent was there.

How do we know they liked Gerry? He was listed as a player they spent time with.

How do we know they liked Gerry? He was listed as a player they spent time with. Maybe after they spent time with him they didn't like him anymore.... isn't that kind of why you spend the time to find out if you like a guy? Certainly, there was something that intrigued them to spend the time but that doesn't mean they still wanted him after spending time. Maybe he doesn't know how to break down a defense or something... who knows?

Sure you don't now what level of interest they had, but they obviously like something about him. It also made a ton of sense, a hard hitting SS with balls skills.
When it comes to Patriots it's about the only thing you have to go by.

Could be coaches speak but in the past, BB and others have said that sometimes a visit is to "complete the book" on a player. It's not always an indication of interest.

Another good pick in my opinion. Been a long time since I liked every pick. Looks like Flemming's replacement for next year, maybe this year.

Looks like they are hoping they can not have to shell out big money to resign Solder.
