Boston and Cleveland in serious talks involving Kyrie and IT, per Woj (others had repored talks, Woj with escalation).

Woj reporting Zizic in the talks. Boston would need to add someone in that salary range.

Let's hope no Nets or Lakers picks, otherwise it could be a great trade.

So its Irving for Thomas, Crowder, Zizic, and the Nets' 2018 pick (unprotected). Wow.

I don't like it at all with the loaded draft next year to be honest. This Celtics team is not going to feel the same without IT, Crowder, and Bradley. At the same time, we weren't going to win a championship with that core, so....Danny rolled the dice. Question is was it the right window/time to roll the dice? We will see.

I really don't like this trade with the Nets pick being included. Disappointed!! But only time will tell.

I really don't like including the Nets pick either BUT.... this team had no other way to add a star besides that pick and they got one who's only 25. Chances of that player being better than Kyrie aren't very high. Of course they gave up Crowder and IT too but I don't think you can win in the NBA with a 5'9 PG making max money and Crowder opens up that PT for Brown and Tatum. So yea... that's how I'm justifying it.

What's needed now is some of tat old time Auerbach/Celtics luck. 2018 Draft Lakers Pick #2, Nets Pick #3.

The general structure of the deal makes sense in terms of resetting their window, and Thomas and Crowder were always going to need to be a part of it, but the fact that Ainge was willing to include the Nets pick represents a bet on Kyrie being a legitimate superstar who fits in Boston's system and/or that the Nets will be better than expected next year. Their core is set for the next few years-- will be very interesting to see how it all shakes out.

The health of Isaah had to be a huge part of this equation too.
Personally, I love this trade. Take the unknown right out of everything. Go get the proven superstar because that's what the NBA is all about. Maybe the Nets get better, who knows.
I knew all along that the Celtics had the best package to give the Cavs all along. Just weird to see the two best teams in the conference help each other out like that.

I don't think Isaah will be Isaah next year, due to the hip. I'm not sure if I'm sold on Brown too (though he does have the talent to turn into a superstar, I admit). Irving is a superstar and is controllable and he's 25. IF IT is not IT next year it would be because of the hip and therefore a deal would not happen because the med reports would catch it. Well....no actually....

In the NBA the team who gets the best player basically wins. If Kyrie resigns and he's better than the player from the Nets pick it's a Celtics win.

They got a whole lot better. I think this gets them to the Finals. LeBron is getting old and Isaah is hurt. If this team mixes well right off the bat, they'll be nasty. This gives Tatum more minutes with Crowder gone too.

How much better does Irving/Hayward/Smart make us over Thomas/Bradley/Crowder?
I got into an argument with a friend who says this makes us better but the defense takes a huge step back. Not sure I fully agree with that statement.
I really like this team, Irving gives us that "it" factor we were missing in the finals and Hayward is just a great player who I say takes a step forward in Boston.

How much better does Irving/Hayward/Smart make us over Thomas/Bradley/Crowder? A lot better. NBA finals better. I like Thomas and Bradley a lot but Hayward and Kirie are two top 25 players in the league. Kirie might be a top 5 player in the league himself.

Wow. I'm legit speechless. I don't know if I love or hate this deal. I'm legit surprised by this and I don't know how to react.

Yup, and I'd be willing to say this team is one good piece away from competing with Golden State. While I think the recently already were, they are definitely a destination team now. In that, you come to Boston for a chance to get a ring. Plus the C's got money to spend now too. In hindsight, would have been nice to keep Bradley, but I really can't complain with this offseason.

They can compete with Golden State right now. The Celtics are so deep right now in talent.
