It's amazing. We talked about the Sox killing a good Anaheim team. The Yanks swept them, too. Took 3 out 4 at Houston and just swept a supposedly good Indians team. I don't think the Indians are anywhere near as good without a healthy Andrew Miller. Can't really put them up with NY, Boston, and Houston. As far as Betances goes, he kind of reminds me of the new Joba Chamberlain - instant sensation turned to a mess. Now the Sox hopefully can win this game or they'll be tied and possibly without Mookie. I hope Mookie will be alright. it's a bit frustrating given the teams, but in the end, there is still 130 games to play. Just have to take care of our business, and smash them when we play them. The Sox are setting us up for a Yankees sweep and it'll be glorious Jerry.

Cleveland gakking it up again, currently blowing a 4 run lead in the 8th. Just saw Allen give up the double to Judge. What a chump. Team breaks up a no-hitter and played four runs, and the guy promptly coughs it up. Edit:*plates*. Is there a more bipolar relationship than mine with autocorrect? This is why fans here used to call him Francoma.

is this Mookie issue serious? Want him on the field for the next series. They way Cora goes about it, he may miss a game or 2 Not serious. Just a bruise.

Yankees win on a walk off homerun by Torres. I'm convinced that the only team that might be able to beat the Yankees at this point is the Sox. They’ve also had the benefit of relatively good teams really rolling by over. The Twins aren’t remotely as bad as they showed, Houston’s been struggling, and Cleveland looks very, very mediocre. But that shouldn’t take away from NY either...they’re doing everything right right now. Meanwhile, Sale is at 60 pitches in three innings because the Sox INF is looking exactly as bad defensively as they can. Personally, I’d rather they take the offense hit of replacing Nunez with Lin (whose xwOBA is way higher than the actual). As evidenced by ERod last night and Sale today, terrible defense has much more widespread negative effects than just an extra run or two. The tons of extra pitches is demoralizing and it forces them to put in relievers early. More looks at the pitcher too. Watching the defense at 2b certainly makes me appreciate Pedroia all the more. I hope he comes back as the healthy version of himself. That would be a difference maker. I don't care to see Nunez there although I don't mind Nunez at 3b late in the game defensively for Devers. And with Pedroia needing days off suddenly Brock Holt has a purpose again - and 2b is his natural position anyways. Glad he looks better.

Oh look, Swihart actually gets an at bat and he gets a hit, what a concept.

I agree that Nunez isn't a second baseman anymore though. He shouldn't play there anymore.

Not serious. Just a bruise. Merely a flesh wound? Mookie is a baseball god. He laughed off this wound and only came out because he felt bad that Swihart wasn't getting in enough at bats.

Seriously, IDC if Pedroia’s a 100 wRC+ hitter, as long as his defense is still elite, or even just plus. It’s not like last year where they’re struggling for offense. I think a fair amount of the pitching issues lately (particularly inefficiency and melt-down innings) is related to poor infield defense.

Every game for the rest of the season is a must win because the Yankees never lose. They do - just not often enough to my liking. Once in the last 17 games. It's annoying, but I'm still impressed as hell that the Red Sox are in first.

If we get this version of Chris Sale in October, they can beat anyone.

Leon's and JDM's HRs were cheap as hell, but I feel like they deserve a few of those. JDM's HR went 367 feet and I imagine Leon's wasn't much further than that.
