I don't care how many shots Irving takes as long as he plays team Basketball and that means keeping everyone involved. Being a playmaker and not taking 9 out of the last 15 shots while having only two assists in the whole game. We won't win many of those games, that is not team basketball. RJP you litterally sound like Durant arguing with Kerr that the Warriors need less not more passes. I'm going to side with the coach that has helped create the most dominant team in recent memory. It's all about the team not one player.
Even getting killed on the glass the team scored more points in regulation in this game than with Irving going off last game. I'll take 23 and 11 from Irving on 13 field goal attempts every game.

I suspect both Brad and Danny know what they are seeing is not a recipe for success, or sustainable. It's time to keep saying "it's early in the season" - at this point, we have a good idea of how things will go...I think it is going to require some subtraction to get to a steady rotation where everyone is engaged. That certainly isn't happening now.

For me it's about getting healthy and playing team Basketball. I think it's telling that after Irving goes off, he does the exact opposite the next game. Which I love to see. Have to believe Stevens was like nice game, but that isn't Celtic Basketball.
Jackie MacMullen said after to speaking with players that don't expect the real Hayward to March. He needs that much time to trust his ankle again. Like at the end of the last game with that drive we keep seeing flashes of the old Hayward. It's just going to take a lot longer than any of us thought.
The big issue is if Horford isn't going to be 100%. He's so key to this team. Just like in last years playoffs. If he won't be 100% we need another big that isn't a negative on offense and can pass. Theis was horrible last night. Negative 27 boxscore and he was that bad! Kinda disappointed that Yabu still isn't at the point where they couldn't even give him a chance.

The lack of rebounding last night was alarming. Is it always like that? How can you not even rebound 3 point misses that are bouncing really far away from the rim?

They’ve been rebounding well over a decent stretch of games but last night was brutal. Giving up that many offensive rebounds is terrible.

I'll take 23 and 11 from Irving on 13 field goal attempts every game. You’re making stuff up (with regards to me) and I noticed you’ve moved the goal posts for the Christmas game again. I won’t check your work this time because I really don’t care. I’ve never said more shots is always better for an individual player. But a guy taking over 30 shots in a particular game isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Kyrie played great on Christmas and you’re knocking him. It’s humorous. Not my problem though. Guys a magician. I’m just going to enjoy the time I get to watch him play and do things literally know one else can do (no that doesn’t mean he’s the best player in the league - just unique). Your hatred is making you miss the show - that’s a you problem. I’ll enjoy his journey. He’s not a finished product yet but I’m not going to wait for it to enjoy what he does. Btw there’s other teams in the court so you can’t always play the same exact way every game. Btw2: on Christmas Kyrie had 2 assists on 11 assist chances. Last night he had 11 assists on 15 assist chances. If his team converted at the same rate as last night then he would have had 8 assists on Christmas. Just saying.

The goal post has been the same, Irving dominating the ball, doing too much iso, and taking too many shots not playing team ball hurts the team overall. Nevermind he just litterally called out his teammates for doing just that type of crap.
You can have whatever opinion you want, I'm not trying to change your opinion. Yet you keep trying to tell me I'm wrong. You can enjoy Irving all you want. I enjoy watching team Basketball, a style that maximizes this teams talent level. Just remember you keep replying to my post RJP.
RJP you have spent the last year telling me I'm basically crazy and Irving doesn't have an effect on ball movement. As the numbers showed whem Smart started playing a ton of PG he does. I'm not making anything up, you enjoying watching the Irving iso show. Nothing wrong with that, but it makes it crystal clear that you support Durant in that conversation.
Did you watch the games? I'm not going into detail because its crazy. If you watched the games the reason Irving converted way more is rather easy. Its one of my main points about taking the ball out of his hands. This wasn't his teammates didn't convert, its he created crazy easy high percentage shots in one game and not the other.

Over the years we've lived in NC, I've watched much more college hoops than the pros - and with Duke, UNC and NC State all within a few miles of where I live, I am so spoiled. When I look at the two games, the different approaches really show. I love the passing approach, good D, getting the full team involved (one and done is changing that a bit, of course) - but I got to see Kyrie in his single Duke year, and Tatum in his single year. The expectations at the pro level these days are so distinct. I certainly appreciate the super star skill levels, but when a team just stops and watches the star drive and dribble endlessly to score (or not), it isn't nearly as enjoyable for me as a great passing, all involved team. The reason I love Duke so much is their resemblance to the vintage Celtics teams I grew up watching (Havlicek years, Bird years).

I almost stopped watching the NBA and greatly reduced it years ago because of the way they game started to be played. That’s changed a lot over the last 10 years or so and the subtle rule changes like 8 seconds in the back court and limited time outs under 2 minutes have really changed things for the better as well. ISO is still going to be a part of things and quite frankly it should be. It’s a problem it’s its a whole game type thing or the majority of it. It’s not an issue during certain stretches or when riding an elite scorer who’s in the zone.

Robert Williams wasn't playing in the game either. I think they need more of a depth move in this area. He's also extremely raw. He's not getting much playing time when the games matter.

Horford is a small baller, Theis is not good enough to start and Baynes is hurt. Like who? Danny won't get another Baynes for like the next three weeks unless your talking about a minimum free agent guy or two way guy that can be cut. If I had to guess he waits to buyout season and hopes for a guy like Kanter. In no way a perfect fit, but he adds size, rebounding and scoring. He's just not good defensively. Personally I'd look at Vonleh, but he is young so maybe not the best fit or a guy like Morris's brother. Guy similar to Horford that can play with him and with Baynes. Both of those guys can shoot, which is what Baynes, Theis, and Williams can't do. It's why a guy like Dedmon while tempting isn't an option for me. Not a ton of options and there's no guy like Randle that I'd throw a first round pick at like last year.

I would love to have a guy like Kanter but he would be such an odd fit. I haven't been watching Vonleh closely so I don't know all that well, but I like the numbers. My favorite trade target, outside of AD obviously, would be Nikola Vucevic. He'd probably be a rental so the price wouldn't be too high and he would fill the 2 biggest voids in this team alone (a legit good big and a goofy euro). He can shoot it, he can rebound it and he's big as heck so that would probably free Horford to the things he likes the most (the small things). The biggest hurdle is matching salaries and that would almost certainly require trading Morris. Which I'm fine with by the way, what are the odds he doesn't revert back to his old self eventually? All of those options IMO are better than not doing anything and getting bodied out of existence in the post-season.

Unlikely, but Randle I believe has a player option for his second year and NOLA has no bird rights. They may not be able to keep him so the rights to Rozier and Yabu plus maybe a pick could be worth it to them should they be out of it.

Ok so two very interesting idea. Both make sense, but both might require first round picks. I'm fairly sure Vucevic if traded would take a good amount and he makes almost 12 million, so you need a lot more than just Morris. You could say Morris and Baynes but that makes zero sense for the Magic. Robert Williams wouldn't interest them with Bamba. The competition would be rather high you'd think. Wouldn't you rather overpay him that trade him for nothing? I'm not fully convinced he's a great fit next to Big Al in the lineup. Very interesting, if the cost was low it makes perfect sense. Yet I'm not sure the cost will be low. Wouldn't they want Brown, Rozier, and/or a couple first round picks? Interesting none the less as they have fallen out of the playoffs.
The Pelicans trade is another very interesting one. Much less change to the core and you could make the case it maybe makes the Pelicans better. I'd think they'd demand Semi over Yabu, as he would seem like a better fit. Add a first round pick and it could make good sense. Holiday played two guard with Rondo last year. It would just require the Celtics to get another PG. What really makes sense for them is Randle for Morris and Rozier though. Adds depth and the pieces fit a lot better. Heck better yet they'd love Brown and Rozier.

For whatever stupid reason I keep forgetting the Pelicans can trade Randle lol. I love him as a player, he could be awesome for us with plenty of space to operate down low. Dude was seen as a part of the core (more so than Rozier given the Smart extension) as recently as the start of the season. The Celtics currently have a lot of first round picks, they have the luxury of parting with one or even two for a rental. Team is on the verge, of course Danny shouldn't/won't get stupid, but if the opportunity presents itself you just have to go for it.

I would trade Morris, Rozier, and a first for Randle. What do you have to lose there?
Rozier and Morris are rentals essentially for this team.

Man Rozier looks terrible out there. Hayward has absolutely 0 explosion, he can't go around anyone. It's inexplicable how sad this bench has been.
Not feeling it with this game.

I just don’t see how this team can deal Morris. He’s their second or 3rd best player right now and not necessarily a rental. Randle would be because you don’t have bird rights, don’t even have early bird rights. I agree they would prefer Semi

Definitely felt like they were biding their time until they got blown out and it's nice of them to do so early.

Yeesh, this team has struggled with consistency big time this season.

The lack of hustle there by Rozier just kills me. You're getting muscled inside and can't grab a rebound to save your life, at least throw yourself at the ball.
