Man, Tatum looked atrocious tonight. Probably his worst overall game I can remember.
Brown, on the other hand, is balling so hard right now.

Brown, on the other hand, is balling so hard right now. the team is like a puzzle that only occasionally all fit together. I watched the whole game - Irving just kept forcing it and turned it over a lot - he scored, but his defense and poor decisions negated his points. Horford was fine enough - Smart and Brown injected a lot of energy. But Hayward, Morris, Rozier, Theis - and yes, Tatum - were all out of synch and out of whack. Painful game to watch - for three quarters all of their flaws showed, then they flicked a switch for a bit in the 4th quarter and showed what they can do- but it was too little too late. What a mess. I think shutting Hayward down may be the humane thing to do right now, sit Morris more - but who knows what the answer is. Irving does not at all look bought in to this team

Based on the postgame quotes, it doesn’t sound like Bozo Brad has any plans of tweaking the starting lineup.
This is coaching incompetence at its finest.

A sign and trade with Kyrie might be the best move.

This is on Danny as well, he knew Brad wouldn't sit Morris and didn't trade him anyway, it's like being in a porn movie just hanging around with your friend and your mom but you really need to go out for a walk.

So many dysfunctional Celtics articles all over the place today - WEEI, ESPN, NESN - all sorts of opinions on what's wrong, but the biggie seems to be that Kyrie has mentally checked out of the season.

If Stevens doesn't make a change and can't motivate these guys then what the heck is he doing? Lack of effort and Chemistry so you change nothing?
Danny why didn't you get another big? First time paying luxury tax shouldn't be the year you don't use your MLE. He really limited our trade options by not using it. He couldn't get a buyout guy either.
Still think a lot of this is Irving. He's created the Chemistry issues and his style doesn't fit the team. To make matters worse he's checking out when he should be stepping up.
At the same time I still think this mess of a team will do better than people think in the playoffs. It's like they are Shaq and just using the regular season to get ready for the playoffs. I'm going to be hopeful this is like Bill saving plays, formations, grouping, etc for the playoffs. I think they need that underdog label right now. We'll really see how special a coach Stevens is during the playoffs.

What exactly are the options with Kyrie moving forward? I have no idea how the NBA CBA works.
He clearly seems to be a problem and trying to placate whatever the hell it is that he wants seems like a horrible idea with so much other talent surrounding him. He's exactly the kind of player that caused me to stop watching the NBA for a long time because it seemed like every team had one of them and all they wanted to do was play hero ball.

I'm not sure what that is like but it sounds awful. It's like an unstoppable force meeting a highly movable part. Brad's stout commitment to a plan is a weird mix with Danny's at times irritatingly calm and long term approach. It's probably the right way in the end, but it will make the journey bumpier than it needs to be. Why is Danny hoarding assets when Brad isn't likely to use them properly? They do devalue over time and at some point you need to question the end goal when the team has reached the ECF twice and never significantly addressed their preposterous lack of depth at the big man position.

The options are simple. Extend him or let him walk. Sign and trade is highly unlikely bc the likely destinations will have space.

Remember though, most of these guys don't want to sign for max years bc they want to play the "opt out" game to maximize their career earnings (timing it so they can hit the 10+ yr max as soon as they've been in the league for 10 yrs instead of waiting out a contract that would otherwise end in year 12, for example).
That extra year is where the majority of the extra money comes from. Someone (@dangercart or @keithsmith) did the math and it turns out it's like less than $5M over the course of the career earnings.
So, as we saw with Lebron, maybe Kyrie forces the issue and you're looking at a nominal return (Lebron James was traded for a 2nd round pick when he left for Miami). More likely, Kyrie wants his new team to have as many assets (either to play with or to move in a trade for another player) after he joins the team.
The extreme example of this would be that New York COULD have the ability to have a KD, Kyrie, AD trio.

And now we are getting to see how good this collective of talent can be when they all buy in together and turn it on.
Hmmm - could Kyrie be right - they are in the playoffs, they play out the string then become all better and monsters in the playoffs? That's a dangerous approach. If they can stay the course and win this game tonight playing the right way, it will certainly help things.
Going for a sweep today - Sox, Duke and Bruins all with Ws so far.

Man Aron Baynes playing defense. He's not mobile enough to be a perfect defender, but seriously I can't think of any other player in the NBA who I'd rather have guarding the opposing big down low.

OK - let's see if they can bring that energy and synergy into the 3Q.
Hayward's play is so, so encouraging.
