Damn that ending felt good. Tatum is a big time player, I hope we keep him around. Not sure I'd want the Lakers Asst Coach job (bc that is what it would be). Also, is Monty Williams trash as a coach? Thought he was very highly respected. His New Orleans teams were a mess, they were poorly coached and he only survived for as long as he did because he's indeed respected as a basketball mind. It's a terrible bet for a team that needs a sure thing.

Yea that was a Superstar game by Irving and it just wasn't the points. Crazy efficient and he didn't completely dominate the ball. Allowing Tatum to show you why you don't trade him! He wants to be a LeBron type Superstar do that 3-4 in a seven game series.
All the way around good game, heck the Pacers hit a bunch of lucky shots to even make it that close.

All the way around good game, heck the Pacers hit a bunch of lucky shots to even make it that close. Major respect to the Pacers. Nate McMillan is a bit predictable on offense and that frequently limits the ceiling of his teams, but he got this Pacers team playing HARD. They were defending like man possessed. I know that we aren't facing any superstars on this series, but they're playing great team ball and yet we didn't falter. We kept going knowing that the Pacers would get tired and got the last punch. Feeling pretty good about the post-season thus far. Even had fun in the last 6 quarters of this series. Don't be surprised if this series is bad in Boston. The Pacers are legit.

The Pacers are a great example of why you need superstars in the NBA. You can try, be well coached, play to the last possession, but you need All-Star level talent to win in that league. There's just no cutting corners. One of the reasons why I like watching basketball. If you have a true championship contender (which the Celtics might be), you need to have that kind of talent on the roster (they do if Kyrie is playing up to his ceiling). It's why I want to add to this group. Not let Kyrie walk for nothing.

Pedro you keep using Superstar and All-Star like they are the same. Do you really believe that?
Give the Pacers back their All-Star and they are a very dangerous team. They remind me of the Celtics last year. They play hard, tough, great D that was #1 in the NBA and they play as a team. They would be a true contender in my book with an all-star. Those are the teams that can beat Superstars by better effort and team play. Yet they ran into a Celtics team that can match that play and frankly has the three best players in the series with Irving, Tatum, and Horford. Everyone talks about playoff Kyrie, yet Horford and Tatum have been massive so far. Like as crazy good as Irving was, Tatum might have been more unstoppable last game. He's back to going crazy attacking the rim and they can't come close to stopping him.
Not many people want to see Irving just walk away for nothing. That is just stupid. I have major issues with Irving, but he's an asset no doubt about that. At worst you hope to resign him and pull a Griffin trade if it just doesn't workout again next year. At the same time I want no part of trading Tatum to make Irving happy and to keep him. That is stupid and if Irving is this brilliant young adult he should know just that. My wife just asked me last night who my favorite all-time Celtic player was and that's easy Paul "The Truth" Pierce and it's not even close. Given my age he's the only real choice. The only great Celtic I got to watch his whole career, is a HOF player and gave us a Championship. Yet like I told my wife, if a player could overtake Pierce, Tatum is that guy. Time will tell, yet he's crazy good at an age that Pierce was still in College. Yet he's unstoppable in playoff games already.
Frankly there isn't going to be a problem if Irving plays like he did last night a lot more as the playoffs go on. Crazy efficient and he didn't dominate the ball. The Pacers litterally started sending four guys at him and he's like your turn Tatum. How many times have we seen Irving on fire do that? It's exactly what he needs to do, yet so many times he'll just keep trying to score. So if playoff Irving can do that, trust his teammates and play team ball he won't have any reason to leave because we can beat any team in the league when he plays that way, along with great team D and engery. It's why I've been waiting for the playoffs. Irving want to be a Superstar, nows your chance. The Celtics have the team, depth, and coach to be true contenders. Heck they don't even need Superstar Irving, just All-Star Irving who plays team ball and doesn't fully dominate the ball. If he can transform into a Superstar in these playoffs and he has that ability this is going to be a fun run this year. I just need to see a lot more of game two Irving over game one Irving. Like Jimed said once every 10-15 games just isn't enough if you want to be a Superstar.
Oh yeah as much as I love Reggie Miller, no way he should be an announcer for the Pacers. He sounds like a fan and it was crazy how biased he is. Like he was in shock during that 4th quarter run and wasn't close to a good announcer. He reminds me of Phil Simms doing Patriot games.

The overall level of talent in the Pacers is not the same as it is on the Celtics when you remove Oladipo and Kyrie from the equation. The ceiling for the Pacers isn't just one guy, it's how good but not great the rest of the roster is. They lost last night because they were tired as heck in the 4th quarter and this was always going to be a problem. When you don't have great depth and you play as hard as they did, guys are getting tired eventually.
I do agree that it's hard to win a title without a Kyrie guy. Maybe not Kyrie, but you need someone who can go one on one consistently. Last season if they had that guy they would have made it past the Cavs once they packed the paint and challenged fools to beat them from outside, which the Celtics weren't able to do. You can't scheme like that when you have to consider the possibility of Kyrie going nuclear.
I'm very hyped for the Warriors game tonight. If they don't show anything then I'm 100% sure the Rockets are beating the living sh*t out of them and it will be beautiful.

I look at tonight’s C’s game as a must win in some ways. They need to prove they can take it to a team, especially a much weaker one on the road in the playoffs. They punched their ticket of not having home court after this first round in the playoffs and acted like it shouldn’t matter because they can win anywhere. This won’t undoubted prove they can do that but not doing it here is a big issue.

And Kyrie now ball hogging and not involving anyone Are we watching the same game? When I tuned in Celtics we're ahead by double digits. Last 7 min of 2nd quarter was poor offense and defense by Kyrie.

Anyone know if you can find clutch FT shooting percentage? I feel like Tatum misses a lot in those situations. I know he’s hit them but I just remember so many misses - maybe I just remember his misses or does he seem to miss too often in those situations?

That was a bit of a scary win. They were so freaking hot in the first quarter that it gave them bad habits for about a quarter and a half. Then they started playing defense again and stopped taking stupid shots.

They certainly took the pedal off the metal in the second quarter, but found it all again - nice team win...great game by Brown and Tatum in particular (and Kyrie, as always, though he is much more effective when he remembers he has 4 team mates that are pretty damn good). Up 3-0 - coupled with a nice Sox win, takes the sting off the Bruins lack luster effort

Very encouraged by the defense they played in the second half again. The hot takes are going to be about how close each of these games have been and how that bodes poorly for the next round again the Bucks. Don't believe that noise, if they play defense with the same purpose as they played in the second half tonight they will have a shot.
That being said, they need to play better and smarter offense. This scattershot approach we're seeing won't be nearly enough.

I’m just waiting to hear about how Kyrie is making Rozier suck tonight. What like 7 shots 9 points, compared to 19 shots and 19 points? That type of suck?

This scattershot approach we're seeing won't be nearly enough. It only works when they shoot like in the edited broadcasts of Harlem Globetrotter games, like they did in the first quarter. That probably hurt them more than helped them in this game because they stopped doing everything they have to do.

Tatum should be more involved, but that's where coaching comes in. Yea and he can miss a bunch of them too. Umm the coach can't make Irving stop going all Irving. Like last game Irving dominated the ball less, quicker shots and kept going to the Basket. Tonight he just wasn't the same, too many crazy hard jumpers. If he wants to be a Superstar he needs more of game two.
