So if the Pat's sign 2 more CFA's and, somehow, don't lose anymore then, yes, they could lose the picks for Flowers/Brown. However, as RJP highlights, they have plenty of CFA's who will likely sign elsewhere.
Also, I'd be shocked if all of the "gained" CFA's make the team which would remove them from the cancellation formula.

I’m expecting the Patriots to trade 2019 draft picks for future picks and for rookie scale talent. 12 draft picks are way too many. That’s a sure way of wasting half of your draft capital. I would have no problem with New England trading a first round pick for a Calvin Ridley type player. Not saying that’s an option, but the Brandin Cooks trade is a great example for what Belichick might be looking for. Considering salary and fit, Tyler Boyd provides a lot more value than AJ Green etc.

Given recent behavior, we might look at top picks that are on the last year of their deal and haven't lived up to expectations and/or are unlikely to get a big deal from their current team. Certainly some examples of them as targets in recent years (Shelton, Cooks, etc).
EDIT: Laquon Treadwell is a name that has been mentioned as an example (and I think Minny has some Cap Work to do).

One thing to keep in mind is that picks in the 3rd round or later either don’t count against the cap or the number is incredibly small. Second round picks have very small cap charges as well when taking into account the rule of 51 offset.

Clayborn tweeting out that he's been released. About a $4Mn cap savings.

Clayborn released to get some room, almost 4m.... seems like those restructures and extensions we are counting on aren’t really coming thru.

Miguel reporting it's now 3.4. 2M in future dead money.
Not sure why you don't think extensions are coming. Steve Ballisteri was reporting that Brady's is coming (and I'm not sure how it wouldn't). Extensions take longer. Their getting rid of the guys who were unlikely candidates for those anyway (Allen and Clayborn).

They still have: Hogan Gostkowski Ryan Mcclellan Shelton Waddle Hill As free agents to possibly lose... I’m interested to see Bolden and Brooks contracts... my guess is Bolden is under 1m but Brooks could be over. Can you get a 3rd round comp pick for a kicker? I know you can only get so many picks in a given year, I'm just curious if Gostowski walked and got paid top end money if that would translate into a 3rd round pick on paper. I guess, if someone paid Gostkowski $15M per year. But that's not happening.

As we saw with the release of Clayborn, there are ways to create more space and we're likely to see some of them. Bumping up the BSJ article: www.bostonsportsjournal.com/2019/01/09/patriots-2019-cap-preview-part-ii-how-can-they-create-more-financial-flexibility-moving-forward/A Brady extension is almost a lock which will give another couple of million. Then ONCE the space is created, the reason this is an approach is bc the cap hit is likely less than that of a FA who is of similar talent level (recognizing that their are probably only available if that talent hasn't met production for their current teams).

Brady can’t restructure until August which is a problem. A player can only restructure once in a 12 month period. Originally it was thought his last restructure didn’t count because it was incentive based but reports recently are the team believes it cannot restructure. Time will tell i guess but as of now that’s very much up in the air.

The way this has gone, I’m more on board with using a first on a guy like Fant or Smith, Jr. A receiving Tight End who’s not necessarily an in-line blocker. Brady needs weapons.

I don't believe that is accurate on Brady. I'll have to find Miguel's take on it but it has something to do with the type of restructure TB did last year. Certain types have to wait 12 months. Others do not.

Others do not. I’m well aware of what Miguel said, I’m just telling you what’s been said the last couple days. Bedard actually talked about it. He works with him. Bedard said it was originally thought because there was no new money it didn’t count but that was incorrect. I don’t know either way it’s not so cut and dry tho

Okay. Didnt realize that it had been corrected.
Still, its probabaly silly to assume the Pat's dont have a plan in place to help them continue to add more talent.

They’re already as well balanced as anybody. Its a little shocking people are clamoring for us to make more moves when we’re so well balanced and have used almost all our cap with no bad contracts.
Some teams have 25 mil in dead cap lol.

Just want to reiterate that could be wrong; it’s just different from original reports and it’s odd something hasn’t been done by now. They have a plan and plans behind their plans. It takes 2 to tango on a contract tho and you can plan all you want but if the player who keeps going to Super Bowls wants his money what can you do?

This... they expect the players from within to get better and guys who weren’t part of it last year to play... the one big area of concern is the pass catchers.

You can give him his money and still reduce the cap number. Nevermind unless you have new information playing the what if card with Brady is stupid. We know who he is and what he'll do. Why does it matter when it happens? With current cap rules you can sign just about anyone you'll be able to afford. You know rule of 51, fact draft money, undrafted guys, and in season moves money isn't needed for months. If your talking about other players like McCourty it's simple, they'll just cut him. Yet that takes time, wait out market till most money is gone and he has fewer options. Then make your move. Patriots don't play games, if your number is to high reduce it or your gone.

Child abuse investigation. 2nd time at the residence (Hill only named on the first incident, which was subsequently closed. Not specifically named in this one but it's at his home again).
