From Woj on Twitter
"Sources: Boston's showing interest in a 3-team sign-and-trade w/ Kyrie Irving (Nets), Kemba Walker (Celtics) and Terry Rozier (Hornets). Boston wants to create a full MLE and would likely need to surrender at least a first-round pick to Nets. So far, talks are exploratory."

Not sure about 1 just guessing based on what these experts are saying. I trust their grasp of the rules. As to 2, I was only laying it out that way. It isnt actually 2 separate deals but a 3 way. Just listing out for attempted clarity. If Smith and Nahmad say it works, then I believe them. Kyler reporting that CHA is doing background on Rozier and are leader for him. Convincing BRK still biggest roadblock IMO. OK, I get the scenario now. I hope that works out, but gotta give something good to BKN for them to take it, obviously. Trying to wrap my head around it still. Can we do that and retain the rights to all our FAs (Horford, Morris), since we swapped salaries for Kemba, and not signed him with space? I didn't think you could, but that seems to be the implication of this.

Then I hope Danny walks away from this deal.

Then I hope Danny walks away from this deal. I mean, it would mean (apparently) that we would get Kemba, retain the rights to sign Horford and/or Morris and create an MLE (about 9 mil). Yeah, I'd give up a couple of 1s for that. Just hope it wouldn't take the Memphis pick.

I guess the ? becomes "what would you trade for Al Horford?"

Just hope it wouldn't take the Memphis pick. Still wouldn't do it, I'd go as far as giving up our own first-round pick with lottery protection or a couple of second rounders. No way I'd give the Memphis pick in this scenario. I really hope we don't retain Morris and while I would like to keep Horford, I wouldn't give up serious draft capital to do it.

Nahmad saying that exceptions dont enter into the 3 way. It's just BYC compliant.

I’d trade the Celtics or Milwaukee first no problem.

I wanted us to go youth. But signing Kemba negates that. We're trying to win. From that standpoint, not being willing to give up a couple of 1s for Horford and a 9 mil exception seems silly. I wouldn't think it would take the Memphis pick and I would be hard-pressed to do that if it's what it would take. But our own 1s and the Milwaukee one are a different story. I'm not worried about lottery protection, you can put it on if you want, but a Celtics team with Kemba, Tatum, Hayward, Brown, Smart, Horford plus ain't gonna be a lottery team anyway.

Let's agree to disagree, I just don't think you should give up multiple picks to make that happen. If it's our pick with lottery protection or the Bucks pick, then yeah. But not both and certainly never the Memphis pick.

I keep seeing a lot of references to Boston's desire to stay over the cap and generate the full MLE (not necessarily mentioning Horford in many tweets/comments).
The ability to pull this off is one thing. Meeting Horford's asking price is a whole different story.
The full MLE happens regardless and can get you a much better big than the room exception.

I’d trade the Celtics or Milwaukee first no problem. My thoughts as well. Late firsts aren’t worth that much in the NBA.

Stein reporting that Nets have confidence they are getting Kyrie (7-9 yr max) and Durant (10+ max). Also getting DeAndre Jordan.
But back to the first 2, I believe they don't have enough space for both maxs. Of course, they could just make a separate deal to trade away some lower priced guys to get over that hump. OR, Durant/Irving could decide to take a bit less.
OR, I wonder if we just found part of the incentive for BRK to agree to S&T?? No idea if that even makes sense but . . .

Remember when Danny tried to offer the Hornets like 4 first rounders to move up to take Justice Winslow and they turned it down and drafed Kaminsky lmfao.

Shams reporting Rozier is going to Charlotte . . . via that thing that most of us didn't think was a thing anymore.

Bulpett reporting Horford still not coming to Boston.
If true, this always about not wanting to pay that much for Horford (based on reported offer he was expecting).
Morris and MLE is still nice.

What’s that get the Celtics ? That's what I am wondering.Seems like it would just be a trade exception.

So, saw a blurb that the Rozier deal fits the BYC number for Kemba, so double sign and trade? I don't know.

I really don’t know how they are working things - I thought you got hard capped with sign and trades, but apparently not.... Al supposedly hasn’t scheduled any meetings yet.. are they really going to pull off getting Horford back with Kemba? In that scenario they could bring back Morris too but I hope they don’t just for playing time issues.

Steve Bulpet is saying Hartford isn't coming back. Looks like the sign and trades will just get us the full 9 million mid level exception.
