Not overpaying for Al isn't too bad, he looked OLD at times last season. He's still good, I'm just not sure for how long.

If we could have done it, I would have tried to get Al back for more money per, but fr 3 years. Woulda ended before a Tatum extension kicks in.
I wasn't that concerned with Morris, but if we lose Al but could resign MM, gotta think I'd do it.

The market dictates the value of the player and this market he is a max player. If he wanted to come back it would have made sense to give him that.

Thats the going rate for a player like Al.Every great player basically gets paid the same now. Aside from the few that gets the super max. There is no better option out there then re-signing Hartford. Losing Al Hartford is a big blow. Especially with the Nets building a super team.

I’ll say 2 things:
1. If Al goes to Philly, it’s the one place that could make me question him.
2. Al battled a lot of scary injuries last year so I’m curious if he’s about to decline hard.

Randle to NY, Noel to OKC, Bryant to Washington.
Some of the bigs that were discussed.

Still no word on Al, still no details on S&T for Rozier/Kemba. Still, moves faster than baseball!
Also, LOL KNICKS!

Like I agree if I had max cap space I'm not signing Horford. Yet if you have zero cap space and it's Horford or a much lesser player it's money well spent. Your capped out for years now, so it's only going to cost our owner money. Sounds like it won't happen, but I just don't think it's about worth, but more like value added. Like the Bucks were stupid trading Brogdon because they didn't want to pay him. I have zero clue why they did that over that contract with filthy rich owners. Sixers lost Reddick, like the top teams in the East just got weaker. Steven Smith is saying Leonard is going to LA. Horford puts you right back into the mix in a way no other free agent can.

I'm actually a knick fan, tbh I'm not the least bit surprised. this is not the doomsday scenario for me like it is for other knick fans, i hope the nets win multiple championship just to spite this clueless and moronic owner

That's basically my position. You're trying to win and the choice is basically Horford or nobody, maybe Horford or Morris. It seems silly to me to be dismissing the idea of bringing him back. As for Milwaukee, I can't figure that move. Trying to convince Giannis to stay and they're weakening themselves and strengthening a rival? Weird, at best.

Butler to Miami in S&T. PHilly is receiving Josh Richardson +.
This puts Philly out on Horford which, really, was my worst nightmare.
EDIT - Oh crap EDIT 2 - Keith Smith has failed me on this one. I'll give the mulligan though.

At the time, Keith was thinking that Miami was going to have to give Philly pieces that would add too much salary to provide the room needed to sign Al.
Now, according to reports, Philly and Houston are looking for a 3rd team to take some of Miami's salary so Philly doesn't have to.
Adding Richardson still leaves Philly with 28M (they won't sign Harris until all of the other pieces are done since his hold is 22 vs the max deal he's getting). They just can't take on the contracts that Miami needs to move. Somebody else will have to take on the other $.
Space can/will be purchased (Dallas said to be open).
EDIT - Shelburne reporting that Dallas will take on Dragic.

After signing and trading Rozier did the Celtics have the ability to sign Horford or did they have to make other moves too? Because supposedly they offered 4/97 vs the 4/109 from Philly... I’m so confused.
And I’m really kinda pissed Al went to Philly

The 97 is from Philly (the 109 is the additional bonus based on championships). Sounds like Boston was willing to go 4 but off on the money.

As to the first question, @dangercart was speculating that if they thought they could get Horford, they likely would've paid the price to entice Brooklyn to get in on the Walker/Rozier S&T.

You'd be maxed at like 136, so as long as the salary increased you should have had the money.

Did they actually sign and trade Rozier or was that a misreport?

Actually, I kind of forgot Richardson in thinking about Philly and Horford giving fits to Embid is a big part of the reason we owned them.
This signing hurts more than I was thinking at first.

I think that it's still the case (not sure if they can do so and still be a capped team thought). I don't think Charlotte could do it without the S&T unless they could move salary. Renouncing everyone only gets them to about 9M in space. Not enough for TR's reported deal.
