That was stressful reading julyanmorley's comment and then waiting about 45 seconds for all the tweets on the page to load to find out who it was about. Though in that time I was able to pretty much figure it out.

What a rotten break. Song has hit every bump in the road.

Man I hope he can find the resilience and perseverance to stick with this, but its got to be tempting to walk away at some point too. He's always seemed (and showed) resilience though so hoping for the best for him in his surgery and eventual rehab.

Maybe this explains velocity drop and control issues.

This is probably it for the Sox and Song I imagine. I'd be surprised if he pitches again in this system.

Dombrowski may have ruined his career ramping him up so quickly last season.

While I do think his overall pitching development was hurt by being selected in Rule 5, I find it hard to believe that ramping him up last season was the reason he ended up having to get TJ surgery. These injuries happen all the time, for various different reasons - as Chris noted on twitter, Giolito had been a workhorse prior to going down with his injury. From all the reporting, Song had a good and healthy offseason and his velo was up in the spring and he was showing better pitch characteristics. I just think it's poor luck.
