Wouldn't it be something if the Red Sox won the protest, had to win game 163 to force a tie with a Wild Card team and play a play-in game to get into the WC play-in game?

Cash got it right.
He brought in Roe to 1B for Choi. Then immediate moved Kolarek to 1B. Putting him in the lineup replacing the DH. Cora needs to study.

Love Cora doing the work here and causing a ruckus despite being clearly wrong. I feel like he knew he had no ground to stand on and that what the Rays did was perfectly legal, but he decided to go down screaming anyway. That has always been my go-to move on chess, when I get outmaneuvered I always start talking about banging the other player's mom.

Cora isn't wrong. Cash isn't wrong. The umpire screwed it up.

Of course - Occam's Razor. If something goes wrong and Angel Hernandez is in the room, it's probably his fault.

blame Hernandez, sure (cant stand him), but why isn't Cash giving him the spot in the order. That can make it appear as though Cash is trying to have his cake and eat it too.

I wasn't super impressed by Taylor today. I think a more patient lineup takes him to lunch. Darwinzon seems like he can handle 1-2 innings before losing control. Well, that would certainly explain his facing three of the four most patient hitters on the most patient team in baseball and holding them to a .004 xwOBA (Bellinger, Freese, and Martin. He was .046 against them overall in pitching two perfect innings.)

Still a great series in general. Price had one tough inning and that cost you a game. You're still a contender at the moment, so all is well for now.

Indians win again putting them 4.0 games ahead of the Red Sox. The Twins are in a bit of a tailspin, but even if the Indians overtake the division they're 6.0 over the Red Sox. Oakland lost keeping them at 2.0 and the Red Sox are 1.0 behind TB with Tampa having 2 games in hand. It'll be interesting what the standings look like after the next 4 days and even after the following Tampa series.
