"Load of crap" I think it is pretty much accepted knowledge that Trump wasted 6 weeks of time while he lied and fretted about Wall Street, no refuting that. No plans, no listening to the experts, no leading just lies until he couldn't lie anymore. So now we are left reacting rather than acting. It is all in black and white, yup just another Democratic hoax or the common flu. This man is over is head and has been since day 1 and yet still his supporters defend him when his delays and inaction will cost thousands of lives. It is a sad simple fact. And I suppose you don't think the Crazy Nancy, Shifty Shiff Dog and Pony Circus in mid January had anything whatsoever to do with government delays ? Nancy's golden pen walkathon was on January 15th. Think about that. There's two sides to this story and neither is looking very good right now.

Second, Trump was given a detailed intelligence warning on pandemics by the outgoing Obama team and since then has almost willfully eroded preparedness. The ventilator stocks don’t even fully work because the administration stopped paying to have them serviced last summer. Most importantly, Trump actually earned his impeachment. To blame Democrats for doing their jobs — and then to say that because Trump was being impeached he could not do his —is an embarrassing excuse.

Yes Manfred this is garbage but aren't we used to it by now? Barr protected him from the Mueller report, the GOP Senate protected him from the Ukraine bribery attempt and his followers support him no matter what he says, lies about or does. Like he said they would support him even if he killed someone in Times Square. He was at least right about that. How about the fact Dr Fauci now needs security to protect him from the right wing Trump loonies. Or the Governor from Georgia that just said he just learned about asymptomatic people being able to spread the virus, something that has been known for months. Half of all Trump supporters believe the Clintons ran an international child porn ring out of a pizzeria as it was spread across their conspiracy theory networks. So much so that the pizzeria was attacked. Can't make this shit up. Anyone who stands with Trump also stands with white nationalist hate filled racist thugs. They love him, why?

What did you want our President to do? I mean did you want him to shut everything down and scare everyone? I mean China lied about it's numbers and the world didn't really get the full scope of this till Italy. Heck Japan and the UK are still not doing a ton of testing.
Everyone blames Trump, yet the CDC messed this up horrible. They wanted there own tests and messed them up. They wanted everything run threw them, but couldn't handle it. The minute Trump declared a national emergency allowing states to test we've been averaging over 200,000 tests a week.
The New York Governor keeps going crazy, acting like they have no ventilators, when they have 6,500 of them and 1,400 people in ICU. People aren't dieing because they don't have ventilators.
Blame China, if they reported true numbers people would have known how serious this truly was. Instead China made it seem like some social distancing basically ended it and kept the numbers crazy low. If they reported millions had it and hundred of thousands died people like Jimed wouldn't have thought this was the flu!
The US was always going to get hit hard no matter who was President. We have a crazy diverse population that travels the globe and trades with most Countries. Along with a big population and people who value their rights.

To blame Democrats for doing their jobs — and then to say that because Trump was being impeached he could not do his —is an embarrassing excuse. Only quibble I have. I don't believe that at all. The house and senate were completely divided on party lines. I liked Tulsi Gabbard voting that she was just there to listen because it was a sham. It makes me believe that if it were Barak Obama then the voting would have been flipped entirely. Not saying I disagree with the notion in theory, but for it to have been so divided makes in a farce. I don't care that Mitt Romney flipped on Trump. Trump has been openly bashing him since before he took office. This was just a time that Romney could return the favor and stick a knife in his back while appealing himself to liberal leaning voters. I mean, was what Trump supposedly did any different than what Joe Biden is recanting here? www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/09/27/flashback_2018_joe_biden_brags_at_cfr_meeting_about_withholding_aid_to_ukraine_to_force_firing_of_prosecutor.html(I don't care about the source, I care about the video in the source). But, everything else you said, I agree with. I think he was horrendously unprepared for this pandemic. He might have been bothered by impeachment, but that didn't distract him enough to stop his golfing excursions.

So much so that the pizzeria was attacked. Can't make this shit up. Anyone who stands with Trump also stands with white nationalist hate filled racist thugs. They love him, why? That's unfair. I'm friends with a literal communist that is supporting Sanders. I'm not someone who associates Bernie Sanders with communism. In fact, he is my guy (well, after Tulsi). I don't endorse communism in the least bit. I'm a bit backwards because if not Bernie I was voting for Trump, as much as Bernie HATES Trump. It's not out of bitterness, it's because Trump has done a pretty wonderful job on the economy. Shadiness aside. They're all crooks in their own way, but Trump has had results up until this pandemic. On a fundamental level, I agree with Bernie Sanders. Joe Biden doesn't offer anything other than, "not being Trump" and that's not good enough for me to swing a vote. Now, his appalling bad response to the pandemic and not realizing he fired the response team in 2018 has me really struggling and ultimately, likely to vote for Biden if he wins the nomination. Though, it should be noted that Joe Biden called Trump xenophobic for banning travel to China when Trump did, so tell me, if he's commander-in-chief, would we really be better off against this virus? It's hard to get much worse than what Trump did, but that was the right move to make and he called him out for it.

We have a crazy diverse population that travels the globe and trades with most Countries. Along with a big population and people who value their rights. What did I want the president to do? Well I wish he hadn't said (on 1/22) that he wasn't worried about a pandemic and that it was totally under control; or (on 1/28) falsely spread the rumor that Johnson & Johnson was coming out with a vaccine; or (in early February) opted not to replace the failed CDC tests with WHO tests; or (on 2/10) made the unsubstantiated claim that warmer spring weather would make it go away; or (on 2/26) claimed that the numbers were "going down, not up," indicating the situation was improving; or (on 2/27) said “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear"; or (on 3/2) said "we're talking about a much smaller range of deaths than the flu"; or (on 3/6) falsely claimed that "anyone who wants a test can get a test"; or said that he wanted infected passengers on a cruise ship to stay offshore so that they wouldn't raise the number of official US cases; or flubbed a speech announcing a ban on travelers from Europe without staffing up TSA, leading to giant crowds at airports; or refused to coordinate distribution of medical equipment, leading states to bid against each other; or bragged about his ratings in the middle of a pandemic. I wish he hadn't dismantled the NSC's pandemic response team in 2018 for no good reason. I wish he hadn't discontinued the position of an epidemiologist embedded with the Chinese CDC for no good reason. Instead of narcissistically focusing on how the numbers reflect on him I wish he had used the ample warning we had on the pandemic to coordinate the government response on testing, stockpiling masks and medical equipment, communicating to the public the severity of the threat, which probably would have encouraged republican governors to go to lockdowns sooner. I wish he had listened to governors and public health officials about what they needed to be done. I wish he hadn't put an unqualified rich kid in charge of the pandemic response. I wish that he had shown himself to be connected to reality and tried to lead a real government response in general, rather than acting the part of a reality TV character called "President Trump." I wish he wasn't morally incapable of feeling empathy and understanding the stakes of his actions. The CDC definitely screwed up the tests. The CDC is also run by the Trump administration. The reason that the New York governor says they need more ventilators is that more people are being hospitalized and put into the ICU every day. The need is continuing to grow. Should the governor wait until people are actually dying for want of ventilators to ask for them? China should definitely be blamed for their response to the virus and for covering it up. Trump should also be blamed for trusting them (which, again, I take it is the current defense - that the Chinese tricked him with their lies). The US was undoubtedly going to be hit by the virus, just like every other country in the world. Trump has undoubtedly made the problem worse, and more people will die because of it.

I knew how bad it was by just Googling it when it was first occurring and listening to the information being leaked out of China. I imagine the White House has better resources than Google. We had 3 senators pull out all of their money from stocks right before this hit the US. We had a number of CEOs and high ranking company board members resigning their positions. For example, everyone knew Bob Iger was planning a resignation. What they weren't expecting was the abrupt manner in which he suddenly gave up his position on February 25th. Unfortunately, I don't pay for the site, but the headline says it all, fortune.com/2020/02/26/the-great-ceo-exodus-of-2020/

I'm sure there is another dozen stupid/corrupt things that his administration has done over the past couple months, that are also a big deal, but pale in comparison to the rest of this. Edit: Oh, and he also promoted the use of a drug that he thinks will cure the virus, which one person took too seriously and died from overdosing on.

It's not Trump's fault some woman gave her husband fish tank cleaner and they both died as a result.

It's up to the person holding the daily press conferences to only give information when it is safe to do so. If Trump would have been non-specific and just said there are drugs that are offering hope at a cure - that would have been fine. But it was completely irresponsible to specifically mention a drug that has not been approved at a time when people are as desperate as they are.

This is a good snapshot of the relatively fortunate situation my family is in. Based on the 2015 census, the areas shown have about 4.9 million people. For reference, in land mass, Davao City is the 8th largest city in the world. My family is on the larger island in the bay (population 100,000) and still have 0 confirmed cases. The Philippines started counter measures very early relative to most of the world. The day after the first case was found the mayor of Davao (Sara Duterte (#1 poll for next president) started a partial lockdown with strong language towards the city where the first case was discovered. We are structurally similar to the USA but not federalist. The mayors wield far more power than the senate. Anyhow, this represents what should have been done everywhere. :

But the medication isn't what killed them, it was fish food (I had gotten this wrong). That's their own fault for not consulting their doctor and taking something designed to feed fish. www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/cdc-warns-against-using-form-chloroquine-killed-man-sickened-his-n1171226So, again, it's their own fault and another country has openly suggested it.

It’s incredibly distressing to me that our country is so deeply divided politically and that every issue seems to deepen those divisions. It’s awful that a pandemic is viewed in a political context.
This thread has been like a train wreck that I haven’t been able to stop watching. I won’t look at this thread anymore as I’ve seen some views expressed here that significantly lower my opinion of several posters.
Gosh I miss baseball. ☹️

From where I sit, if you think Trump has done a good job then you have blinders on. And if you think this is all Trumps fault then you also have blinders on. The reality is we are seeing a result of what happens when you have two sides who are unable and unwilling to work together and give ANY credit to either one and even worse accuse the other side of nefarious intentions with EVERYTHING that is done.

Yeah I'm not going down the political hole with someone blaming "republican Governor's". You are clearly a die-hard Democrat that hates Trump on all fronts no matter what. Just for the record I'm independent, voted Obama then Trump. It's not my fault Clinton was the best the Democrats had!
Trump is Trump, we know this. I get hatting his rattling style and say whatever without thinking. I hate that also, but those stupid things he says also aren't everything either. You can focus on his ramblings and weaknesses or what he actual does.
I'm sure just about anyone besides him would have been better to watch and listen to. He's a horrible speaker, it gets painful to watch. Yet I also didn't want a president all 100% negative from day one. He reacted when faced with facts. Truth is if the CDC had the tests ready and we didn't hardly test anyone because they weren't ready this could have been a lot better!
You can't say trust the professional, they hold our President responsible when he does just that and they mess it up. In hindsight that looks smart now, but I don't want a president going against the CDC and saying nope don't do it your way, do it my way.
Every since it was clear that we weren't special and couldn't stop this, I haven't minded Trump's handling of it. Declared emergency and testing took off, help was sent to New York, they bought up all the supplies in the market. Litterally buying supplies on tarmacs going to other Countries by paying with big bags of cash. Other Countries are calling it modern day piracy. Working with China and Russia to get us supplies even when he knew the press would destroy him for it.
If you somehow expected the US to be ten times better than Countries like Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the UK, Japan etc I think you were expecting too much. Yeah in hindsight they all should have locked everything down from day one and tested like crazy. Yet almost no Countries shut down there economies unless they absolutely have to or spend hundreds of billions on medical supplies that were already all bought up by China anyway.
Mike Pence is head of the response team, not Kushner. He seems more than qualified for that role. Isn't Kushner just responsible from getting supplies for FEMA?
The last briefing I watched by the governor of New York they showed a seven date chart showing ICU cases had been in the 1,400's for a week. Yes new people come in, yet others get better or die. If they had a rising level every day okay I would get that, but they don't. I'm sorry but the last thing I want my Governor doing is acting like things are worse than they are. You watch him and you think people are dieing because we don't have enough respirators, when in reality that have thousands of unused ones in storage. He's done a great job of scaring them to leave to second homes in Berkshire County where I live and many other states. All while allowing thousands to gather when a hospital ship comes in. Yet locking down New York is like the federal government declaring war on New York in his mind. Do your job than and stop inciting panic unless it's a reality, not just your gut feeling.
I'm so sick of Politics. Even now it just never stops! Fire every last one of them and start over, it's a broken system! It's litterally one of the reasons I voted Trump I didn't want the same old career politician that did the same old things. Term Limits, Term Limits, Term Limits!
