That's very weird. Esplin is NOT a center fielder. Maybe to get Jimenez time in right to expose him to it, fine, but you've got two CF playing on the other team and Eduardo Lopez on the bench (bench one is Gonzalez and Lopez, bench 2 is Dalton)

Looks like the Red Sox have invited additional players to Fort Myers (Joey Stock posted a picture there).
ADD: looks like Cuba Bess is there, too. Juan Montero and Merfy Andrew, as well.

Looks like the Sox smartly are shutting things down a few days early.
We'll be starting with our reports from camp shortly. They may or may not square with the trickles of info that've been reported.

Chris, throw us a bone. Can you give us a name of a player you heard something encouraging about that hasn't been previously reported? Thanks for all you guys do.

BVB and Politi posted this video in their stories as well. Team must've sent all the pitchers their video.

Isn't 3,000 rpm really high? I thought the best curves in the game were around that range

Isn't 3,000 rpm really high? I thought the best curves in the game were around that range Yeah Trackman loves his curve. As noted in his player profile here, "elite spin rate" on the curve. That video squares with the great reports we got on him from camp. I am once again of the mind he will not go unselected in Rule 5 if they don't protect him. He's a candidate to get added (or moved).

Oh I assumed he was talking about Bazardo. Cellucci breaks 3000 on a CB in his highlight video (and 2900 a couple of times). I think he was referring to him. They both have curves with 2900-3000+ spin rates. Bazardo is Rule 5 eligible and his profile here mentions an elite spin rate, but his video was not posted or linked to here when Chris was talking about him, thinking that the question about the rarity of a 3,000 spin rate was about him and not Cellucci, whose video is closest in the thread to that query. Cellucci's profile says his CB "will flash average potential."
My best guess is that Chris had not yet watched the Cellucci video because he was too busy time-traveling into the future to see Bazardo's.
Either that, or Bazardo was the only guy in camp who was known beforehand who fit that description.

Cellucci's 4 curves that were noted in his video had a 2918 average spin rate, which would have placed him 29th among the 390 pitchers who threw 25 or more curves this year.
Bazardo threw (or had just thrown) 7 curves with a 2961 average, minimum 2921, and another 3 ranging from 2777 to 2791, which suggests a second pitch variant. The former would have ranked him 16th last year.
Include the other three, and he's 2908 and ranks 30th.

Cundall starting to drop some knowledge
On last tweet thread, he added that Mata and Ward didn't throw.
