Just because it gives me something else to do, I like to scoreboard watch the bottom half of the league and figure out who is better for the Patriots to win.
Game: Giants 2-7 vs Eagles 3-4-1...
This is a tougher one - my head says get the Eagles another win to solidify their spot ahead of you but I’m going with the Giants as who I’ll be rooting for.
Game: Bucs 6-3 at Panthers 3-6...
I only put this here to say how disappointing it is McCaffrey is out again. They may have had a chance with him.
Texans 2-6 @ Browns 5-3...
There is an upset change here. First the Browns love to choke and second the Texans might not be as bad as their record suggests. I’ll be watching more to see the Texans as the Patriots next opponent. Draft position vs Houston is irrelevant as they aren’t taking a QB.
Washington 2-6 @ Detroit 3-5...
This one technically helps either way but if we are swinging for the fences then go Washington. Stay in that NFC East race.
Chargers 2-6 and Miami 5-3
C’mon Chargers get that upset, but again neither of these teams are drafting a QB next year.
Broncos 3-5 at Raiders 5-3
A Bronco upset would be nice
Vikings 3-5 at Bears 5-3
Vikings have been playing a lot better and the Bears aren’t great so a Vikings win is very possible.

Gilmore returns tonight - I love me some JC Jackson but he really struggled the last 2 games as the number 1 corner. It was good experience for him, but I’m not sure he’s that guy. He’s a great 2, but may not be a 1. It’s not all his fault as we get no pressure but Gilmore’s numbers dwarfed his in same role and Gilmore didn’t play up to his standards early.

Damien Harris as a 3rd round pick is looking pretty good for Bill lately

If Harris is healthy, Sony Michel has no place on the Patriots.

Great win. I'd love to see a Harris and Michel one two punch with both healthy. Your bruising big back and your make people miss shifty type guy.

Bad as it gets-conditions game and they pass a bit better to go with a solid running scheme. Harris prob deserved Off POG though I'd give it to Burkhead for making the long TD reception (from Myers)completing the huge play. They played hard despite the crap conditions (Bill called it a little precipitation) after some tough loses.

Don’t you need to make people miss to be a shifty back? I’ll say this, maybe watching Harris and Burkhead run will open Sony’s eyes and make him more consistent in running hard.

Wynn, Onewenu, Harris, Meyers on offense and Jackson, Duggar, Winovich and Uche all were impactful last night. Maybe the talent acquisition the last couple years isn’t as bad as we’ve been led to believe.
Duggar was especially impressive, might be seeing his coming out party.
Uche, has had limited action so far due to injury slowing him but he looks damn good out there.

Matt Chatham was tweeting/speaking about Uche (and Jennings a bit).
BC of injuries (and a weird offseason), Uche hasn't been able to learn the OTB LB duties as much as he otherwise would and it's a significant transition (believe Chatham said it would be almost unfair to ask him to do it).
So, instead, he's lining up as a situational pass rusher (3rd and long). And since the Pat's haven't really been able to put teams into a lot of those situations, his snap % will be down.
As the season goes on, we'll see how much more he's incorporated into other packages. Also, if the addition of Davis to help stop the run works, there will be more of those obvious passing downs for him to contribute in.

So there are six 6-3 teams above New England in the AFC playoff picture, and the Patriots have beaten half of them. What a weirdo season.

Do I now need to start looking at Sam Howell, Spencer Rattler, and Kedon Slovis?
Good win. Growth by young players already on this team is more valuable than draft position, but only if the team feels they have viable QB plan.

Growth by young players already on this team is more valuable than draft position, but only if the team feels they have viable QB plan. You don’t need a top 10 pick to get the QB of the future. It helps, but it’s not a prerequisite. And I say it helps even though the majority of the QBs taken in the top 5 haven’t done much.

This is awesome, and totally captures my thoughts.
And yeah, the fact that there are 6 viable QBs in 2021 draft that you don't have to squint to see as viable NFL starters helps. Someone among the Lance/Wilson/Trask/Mac Jones set will be available wherever the Pats pick. I've just become enamored of Wilson and his ascent along with Pats success makes him out of reach.

Need to win the rest to get into the playoffs. Doable. Only really tough one is Arizona on November 29th. Otherwise, we have a good shot.
Myers is turning into Edelman 2.0. As bad as BB is drafting at the top of the draft, he’s been really good down lower and the undrafted class.
Love Harris. Where was he last year?
If we keep Newton next year, top priority next year has to be at TE.

Kansas City was a playoff team with the 27th pick. They traded that pick, a 3rd that year and a future 1st to move up and drat Mahomes.
Scout/evaluate better than others and be aggressive when you've found your guy.

I have been one of the biggest Sony Michel defenders on here. But Harris just looks different. Even when he is stuffed he looks like a different back.

Harris appears to be much stronger. Tough to bring down. A faster version of Burkhead.

I think it's just his health. He made people miss his rookie year, he did it in his monster game before his most recent injury. He didn't do it at all last year while banged up. I don't think it's him running hard, it's him being healthy and having that burst.

He’s been good but PFF might want to work on the grading systems It's a grade given his opportunities and how he did, not a league wide ranking. They aren't saying he's the third best WR value wise.
