market value !!! I don't expect to see him back here. If it were up to me, I would offer......3yr / 24 -27 million. I don't think that will get it done. Might! Seems fair. Here’s hoping! No please No..

Not sure many saw Pivetta doing nearly as well as he did tonight. 8 K's in 5 innings with 14 swings and misses--an encouraging job well done.

So Vazquez is pretty much having the same season this year with the bat as he had last year.

Arauz will definitely be a nice depth piece to further develop in the minors next year. Wasn't aware he could hit the ball 107 mph.

ERod - Gausman - Eovaldi - Peréz - Pivetta is what I want to start the year next year. With Houck starting in AAA. It is highly unlikely that ERod is going to start the year in the rotation. Everything reported so far is that the club still expects he'll be ready for opening day, even though he hasn't yet been cleared. That could change, but not sure I'd call it unlikely in the way that, say, Sale is unlikely to start the year in the rotation.

But they also talked about the need to build up stamina after such a long period of inactivity and that they wouldn't want to take a chance on his health.

I'm baffled that Devers is swinging through those 90-92 MPH fastballs tonight. it's not just tonight I had the thought that I have to run the same splits for him that I did for Chavis.
I'm becoming a Tapia believer. The stuff is obviously there and his pERA is now down to 3.48. There's no way he clears waivers, and his floor is a useful up-and-down guy.
Pivetta will debut atop the pitching leaderboard with a 1.21 pERA, but it was -0.11 after 4 innings.

I wrote this comment on The Athletic this morning (emphasis added):
In a typical game from his good year with the Phils, given the same number of batter faced (21) and pitches thrown (96)
63 strikes, 1.7 BB, 5.7 K, 4.7 HardHits, 1.1 Barrels
His bad year:
60 strikes, 2.0 BB, 4.5 SO, 5.1 HardHits, 1.3 Barrels
Tonight:
59 strikes, 3.0 BB, 8 SO, 3 HardHits (2 in the 5th), 0 Barrels.
He worked the edges of the zone, got guys to chase up out of the zone on the FB and outside it on his slider, and was willing to walk more guys because the benefits are avoiding hard contact and getting extra K's on chase pitches.

So Vazquez is pretty much having the same season this year with the bat as he had last year. I was never a big vaz guy but after the last two seasons, no way I trade him at his current contract he is a steal.

When Pivetta was acquired, I thought to myself "Hey the Sox found their next Joe Kelly." That still sounds about right to me. Hopefully he can stick as a starter better than Kelly could. If not, he'll end up a middle reliever like Kelly.

Running the tab on bloom so far. He has done a good job getting cost controlled pitchers that could have a direct impact on how good this club is next season valdez, tapia, and pivetta. Then there is the utility guys he has added munoz, arauz and Arroyo. I'd say he gets a B+ so far. I am pretty excited to see what he does with an open check book.

If not, he'll end up a middle reliever like Kelly. I’m not the scouting expert many on this board are, but he doesn’t remind me of Kelly at all. His curve looked like his best pitch with a 94-95 mph fastball and a slider.
