The Bourne signing makes me think of acquiring Welker when they did.
The other thing is this offense has gone from zero playmakers to 3 guys who are fast and exciting with the ball in their hands. Smith, Agholor and Bourne are all explosive players. The only guy they had last year with some explosiveness (was more violence) was Harris.

Danny Shelton got released. I'm guessing they end up with one of Shelton/Guy still. I don't know enough about Godchaux and Anderson to know where they'd fit in the Pats D-line scheme, but I wonder if their signings and the re-signing Wise will push out Adam Butler. Is Beau Allen still under contract?
There was word on tenders for a number of RFAs, but nothing about JC Jackson. I think they'd be smart to tender him at 1st round unless they are immediately signing Gilmore to an extension. A strength of the team can quickly turn bad without at least one of those two.

So should we be very worried about Edelman? Bourne screams slot WR in this system. Slow 40 time, yet very good 3 cone time.

I would love to bring back Danny Shelton. I never understood replacing him with Vaughn for almost the same money last year.

12 hours later, the Aglolor deal is the only one that really makes me shake my head. You couldn't get Samuel for $13m per? He's definitely a 2 who is young enough that he could still grow into a 1b. If Aglolor is so great why didn't we sign him for $1m instead of running Byrd all season? Hadn’t played the outside before last season. He did it for the first time in Vegas and had a career year. They’re certainly buying high and hoping it continues but I see the logic behind the signing Definitely my least favorite of the group though

Might explain why NE signed more complimentary guys at WR.

Holy Hell. This team is 100% dealing 2-3 first round picks and getting a QB in the draft. These deals fill (overfill) quite a few needs and most are 2-3 years, which opens up a window. If T-Law and Wilson go 1-2, Fields is the only one I see able to take advantage of the window; I know lots of draftniks think he needs to sit a year, but I don't buy. Fire him up!
I'd still live with Mac Jones but do see UMass' point about having to build 2 offenses with Cam around. Lance just wouldn't fit the window; Wentz started Day 1 but was 2 years older and had actually played the year prior.

Great third TE and likely 2nd TE blocked because isn't much more of just a receiver?

It would suck, make things harder, etc. Yet if you think Jones/Trask are starting NFL QB caliber guys, they should still do it. If you're going to invest this much in weapons you need a QB that can use them.

I'm just shocked right now, this is not what I expected. Not that the two TEs don't make sense, they certainly do. Just wow, so many huge long-term deals. It's like he's waited twenty years to act like the Jets. Yet Newton loves big targets.
I'll give props to RJP sure seems Newton helped land guys.

Might explain why NE signed more complimentary guys at WR. I think I know what you mean, but I don’t know if I’d quite call them complimentary guys, but if you’re labeling all non true numbers 1s that way i follow you. I do really think Bourne is a guy who we could be talking about as the next Brown - Welker - Edelman.

When going thru my list the other day, I mentioned signing Henry, but I totally forgot he’s never played 16 games in a season. I wouldn’t give a player like that big money. What I meant to say is, I’d give him big money as long as it was in combination with Smith.

Great third TE and likely 2nd TE blocked because isn't much more of just a receiver? I don’t know what he is... coming out I thought he was a receiver but not a blocker and last year he seemed like the opposite which maybe is a good sign that he can be an all around TE... reality is usually TEs take longer to develop. The structure of these contracts will be interesting to see.

I do really think Bourne is a guy who we could be talking about as the next Brown - Welker - Edelman. Yeah, I was just trying to come up with a shorthand way of describing them without using numbers. Who is a #1? Who is a #2? That gets pretty cloudy when you consider how different offenses are structured. Nobody would've considered Welker/Edelman #1s but that's exactly what they ended up being (based on catches/yardage). It's really more about what they do X vs Z vs Slot. What position gets targeted more in a particular offense (or by a particular QB) often dictates who is the #1 option.

Both Jeff Howe and Jay Glazer have said that the Pats "aren't done".

Yet there has to be some of that in these deals with so many of them.

Feeling by many(Cameron Wolfe, for 1) is that New England and Miami will get Andrews and Karras for their C spots. Who gets which one remains to be seen.
