After toying with us the other day, it looks like Patrick Chung DID have a big announcement. According to his instagram (and pointed out by Field Yates), he's retiring.

Okay the Mills signing makes more sense now. I couldn't wrap my head around that signing given Chung was coming back and last year Mills basically played a Chung like role.

I had talked myself into that more of a prep move to replace DMac next year (made an assumption that, as a former CB who moved to S, he'd be a fit there). But this definitely fits better as an explanation. |

I thought the same thing at first, yet his 4.61 40 time likely doesn't fly at FS in today's NFL. It's fine at SS and he had a 6.86 3 cone time so he could play slot CB. He just screams Chung role, Dugger and Phillips were horrible in coverage last year. Gives Bill his 3 safeties he loves to use.

Used a 7th to pick. He gave us a valiant effort and then we got a 7th back. Gotta consider that a win.

If we are truly trying to fill all needs (aside from "QB of the future") prior to the draft, I would add an interior offensive lineman and a RB to the mix.
I'm actually a little surprised we haven't heard anything about Burkhead. I know he's injured often but would think that would keep his market down and a return to NE on a one year deal would make some sense. We have, of course, heard that they have some level of interest in Chris Carson and Leonard Fournette.
My heart wants them to still re-sign David Andrews (using Karras in his old backup both C/G positions role) and the fact that Miami went with Matt Skura takes away his presumed destination. But reports (and logic) say Karras is the man so right now we only have Najee Toran, Marcus Martin and Ross Reynolds in reserve. They ALWAYS seem to take an interior guy or 2 in the draft but, again, the premise here being IF they want to fill all needs prior to the draft.
At some point, I'm sure they'll bring in a veteran kicker to compete with Aguayo and Rohrwasser.

He’s being released. I doubt the Patriots sign him tho. I just don’t see them not going with Newton at this point. |

Comp picks are a net gain, meaning you need to lose more than you sign. A bunch of crap then goes into the formula like salary, playing time, etc. I see absolutely no way we get comp picks next year. The OTC guys are on it. No chance for any picks this year. |

With all these holes filled, BB might just use his draft picks to trade up for his future QB. Let Newton train him for a year. I think BB got his genius back.

I was doing a depth chart to see where they were at and there are basically no roster spots left only a few roster spots left not accounting for draft picks. A trade up the board and/or trading or cutting of surprise players is kind of inevitable.
Below is my list of 48 guys who seem like 53 man roster locks assuming healthy (which never happens). I stared the special teams guys. They will probably add a rookie QB (maybe Stidham shouldn’t be a lock?). They need an 8th OL (Cajuste is a possibility but with Herron, you may want a guy who can play guard even tho you have Karras). I say you need another interior defensive lineman... maybe they get Guy back, and Cowart is available - spot in the draft works too. I think targeting an inside linebacker or young corner in the draft makes sense too. I think Keene will be the fullback this year - just no room to carry one in my opinion.
