Thanks for the post. Does anyone have a scouting report on him as well? Here is more info about him on this post a month ago. Saw this tweet as interesting enough to post here: From what little I could find in English, Shim Jun-seok is eligible for the KBO draft coming up, but might want to come over and pitch for an MLB instead. He's a pitcher who has reportedly hit 97 and recently signed with Boras to represent him.

Thanks. I'm curious about his secondaries. Has he ever had to use a change etc.

Red Sox add another IFA - RHP Breilin Arredondo.

With J2 (I know, by I still call them that) signings being reached years in advance, I wonder how the Sox are handling the possibility that their budget for the year will be reduced by a million. Is there enough filler beyond the big agreements that can be re-arranged as needed?

The above signing is official - Luis David Jerez.
Today was the last day of this signing period.

What is the SF pitch? Split finger?

What is the SF pitch? Split finger? You'd think but 80 doesn't make sense. 84 mph curve as well for that matter.

What is the SF pitch? Split finger? Yeah, splitter is normally " FS". I think this is just a typo.

Got the rest of the names and bonuses: www.soxprospects.com/international.htmThe three whose bonuses we didn't know (Romero, Arredondo, Batista) all got $10k. Also added $10k signings Cristofer Soriano (DR, RHP, July 8), C Frederik Jimenez (C, DR, Dec. 9), and Yeferson Vargas (DR, RHP, Dec. 9)

I always especially root for the kids who are the only ones signed from their home country, like Ovis Portes. He seems like an intriguing arm - interesting physical attributes, so I'll be curious to hear what his scouting report looks like.
Looking at that link, I am reminded to ask: will Yoshida receive a Sox Prospects ranking while he has rookie status, or does the site not include "straight-to-MLB" international signees?

Not going to rank him. Fair question though.

He qualifies for the award, but not for the draft pick compensation, unless two of MLB Pipeline, BA, and ESPN add him to their preseason top 100 prospect lists. Given his age, I doubt he's on one of those lists.

It's a pretty minor issue but must be nerve-wracking (or at least vaguely anxiety-inducing) for the folks who work at those media outlets. One of the incremental downsides of punting these sorts of decisions to media outlets.

One of the incremental downsides of punting these sorts of decisions to media outlets. Yoshida's ROY odds should be pretty high. It might be worth like 500k to the Red Sox if BA decides to put him on their top 100. Not great to have those incentives just hanging there.

It would be pretty dumb, in a spirit of the law sense, if the Red Sox got draft compensation for a rule that's meant to incentivize calling up prospects from the minors, a situation which is not relevant to Yoshida. But it would be pretty great in an "I like when good things happen for the Red Sox" sense.
