Anthony Gose called up by Cleveland as a relief pitcher. Great story, conversion from MLB OF to MLB LHP officially completed Edit: and he topped out at 100.8 These are always a fun story. I always had high hopes for Williams Jerez but looks like that’s not to be. Hey, the fact that he (and Jordan Weems) even made it to MLB is impressive. 9 (signed, plus 2 unsigned) MLBers in that draft.

Gotta be curtains for Cocaine Preller. This was supposedly the last chance for him. I feel kinda bad because it’s not like he’s made terrible moves. The worst is probably signing Hosmer

They’ve done live comedy every time they’ve taken the field in the last 3 decades

They’ve done live comedy every time they’ve taken the field in the last 3 decades I think that's an appropriate punishment for being gifted the 1986 World Championship. I figure they have 50 more non-championship seasons to go before the baseball gods allow them to win the World Series. That sentence would fit the crime.

I’d like to thank the Mets, couldn’t have been possible without them and the humiliation they face on a near daily basis for simply existing. They are my muse

Bubble gum is back
That's probably the most uninspired move they could make. "We acknowledge that we need change...let's resign some guys".

MLB schedulers take note: Yankees could lead off the year against the Mets as the opening act.

If George was alive, Boone wouldn’t have been employed long enough to make a sandwich at the post-game spread. Those were the days…

Have to figure Cashman is next to be extended? As a Red Sox fan, you have to love this move.

Have to figure Cashman is next to be extended? And perhaps they can sign some more DHs with a 35% k-rate.

A comment about the fans at Fenway got me remembering something I had wanted to talk about - for those of you who watched NLDS Game 2, did you notice the seats behind home plate were pretty much empty in the 8th inning despite it being a close game? What the heck was that all about? I get it was really late on a Sunday but still, you gotta see that through.

Part of it is the sheer size of the seats. It's even more noticeable at Yankee Stadium - even if only 10% of the seats are empty, the appearances is that there are these huge gaping holes, just awful looking on TV.
This has historically not been an issue at Fenway Park.

I live in NY and I love hearing Michael Kay on the radio defending this move and how great of a manager he is. He said personality-wise there's no difference between Cora & Boone, is he serious? 😂 Funny listening all day because he works for the team and his show is on their network so he won't say anything negative and is screaming at every fan calling in. Amazing

DJ LeMahieu played 83 games at 2B and he was an exactly average hitter (100 wRC+). Brandon Lowe played 133 games at 2B and had a wRC+ of 137.
Joey Gallo played 14 games at DH.
Kyle Seager had the second lowest wRC+ (99) of all 9 qualifying third basemen.

You missed the most egregious one: Justin Turner last played second base on July 21, 2019. It was the only time in the last six seasons he has played the position.
EDIT: The twitter sleuths figured out that they were pretty obviously going for Trea Turner and whatever intern got assigned this release but the wrong Turner.

Interesting that they wouldn't just pick one to classify him as.
