For anyone who enjoys or plays MLB’s premier video game “The Show”, they inexplicably have Bello rated this year as a 72 (essentially like a C-). This is not relevant to the real world Brayan Bello - although if he wants to use the low rating as additional motivation as he gets ready for Opening Day, by all means go ahead. Wow that’s low is Crawford even worse

Congrats to Bello on being named the 2024 Opening Day starting pitcher. First homegrown starter on Opening Day since Clay Buchholz took the ball in 2015. Youngest Opening Day starter since Aaron Sele in 1995. Let’s hope this squad is surprising and fun like that insane 1995 squad of Canseco, Hit Dog and Willie McGee. Very much down for Trevor Story in the "John Valentin, secretly the best player in the American League" role. Hopefully Bello's 2024 goes better than Aaron Sele's 1995 though. He got shut down with shoulder tendonitis after six starts.

That's a year younger than Trevor Story and Mookie are today. And while we didn't have the language then, we most certainly considered him "washed" as the kids might say today.

Wow that’s low is Crawford even worse Crawford is better with a 73 lol. All the starting pitchers have C grades. Story is a C. Slaten, Weissert and Campbell are all in the 50’s (F’s). (On the bright side, you can sign Montgomery for 8 mil a year and Liam Hendriks has fully rehabbed elbow!) The team defaults as 25th ranked in the MLB - which I suspect will reinforce many baseball fans’ assumptions that the Red Sox will be terrible - unless they are religiously watching spring games on NESN. Hopefully Bello next Thursday night can be the start of changing that narrative…

Really eager to watch him pitch.

Baseball games really fell off a cliff after MVP Baseball 05. This will be Matt Derksen's year.

It sounds like I will be doing quite a bit of enhancing when I get the game later this week because Bello at a 72 with a C potential just does not do it for me.

It feels like it’s been the same tightrope for 3-4 years straight almost - it’s only been successfully crossed in 2021 when Eovaldi and post-myocarditis E-Rod stayed healthy, while Garrett Richards and Martin Perez avoided complete disaster years (although not for lack of trying!)

MLB The Show rosters (and the game in general) have been lazy/horrible the last few years, especially as relates to the Red Sox. They gave Devers an 81 last year after he put up a 4.8 fWAR season. Like… huh?
