Still curious with what happens on the TT/Dunn deal. It would seem like they might be trying to get a 3rd team involved and the early speculation was that it was to move Dunn along. I liked him for this team and I know others (UMass for sure) had pointed him out as a target before things got rolling. Most deals are known by now but they can become official anytime after 12PM EST. Since the ordering of moves can be critical in maximizing cap space, we may start to know more this afternoon. I'm also highly intrigued as to what is going on. Dunn sure seems like a rather solid get for this team.

I’ve always loved me some Kris Dunn even with him not living up to his draft hype. Guys plays hard and is a PITA defender. I think he’d fit in well here and become a guy that fans really get behind
The problem with the Celtics the last handful of years is that they’d been playing two timelines at once. Now they have one timeline and people think they’re backed into a corner. Which in a way I guess is true but this was always going to be the timeline where we have the best shot at a title. JT and JB entering their primes. We just have to complement them properly and honestly i think Brad’s a great fit for finding those pieces as nobody in the league knows what makes those two tick more

I wonder if they are thinking that, for what they are looking for out of a veteran #2 PG (play D, support the development of Pritchard/Madar, etc) they figure a Frank Ntilikina (or Brad Wanamaker) at the minimum "fits better" than Dunn at Kris Dunn at 5M.
I don't agree, tbc, but they might figure why spend the tax on a "bridge year" (if they feel that's what they are headed towards) or, at least, want to see how the year starts before committing fully supporting the 2021-22 roster with spending that puts them in the tax.
If they are thinking they want to spend big NEXT year, that could be a factor I suppose. Don't love it bc it's a year off of the JT/JB timeline.

JT and JB are 23 and 24 as of this post…. I’m not worried about taking a year off their timeline. I’m worried about building the team properly. When you act desperate that’s when you screw it up and force guys to leave eventually because it’s a hopeless situation.

Lauri Legend set to leave the Bulls. If we don't get in on the action, I'm going to lose patience.

C's supposedly in on Schroder. Don't love that.

C's supposedly in on Schroder. Don't love that. Would not be my choice. He's good on a bad team or as a 7th man on a good team, but somehow guessing that's not the cost. And we'd have to maybe give up assets? Rather swing for Richardson or Dunn juvination.

C's supposedly in on Schroder. Don't love that. Brad Stevens can't resist quick ball handlers. I don't dislike the player, if they can get him for cheap on a one year deal to not mess up the absolutely disgusting plan for CAP FLEXIBILITY then that's at least an NBA player and a good scoring option. I'd take Lauri Legend, put Tatum and Brown at the wings, Marcus at point and Horford/RWIII splitting duties at the paint. I've been advocating for Lauri for so long at this point I feel it's personal against me.

@markmurphy saying the BOS/ATL/SAC deal will be announced soon (with no changes to what was reported). Also saying they are waiting to hear back from Smart's agent. Would be willing to go 4/17 on an extension.

Solid value for Smart. Let’s hope Udoka holds him accountable unlike his predecessor.

Would be willing to go 4/17 on an extension. I think that sounds like good value for the C's and makes him also a good value in a trade. With that contract the return would be a lot better than a expiring deal.

That’s my thoughts on the Smart extension- good deal if we keep him, good value if we look to move him next year

C's supposedly in on Schroder. Don't love that. He no has basically no options other than to try and take a one year deal at this point.

C's supposedly in on Schroder. Don't love that. If you can steal him on the MLE 1 year deal you take that 10 times out of 10. He's a decent defender and has good dribble penetration which is a nice break for Tatum/JB on offense. We had very few NBA players last season, getting a legitimate one on an MLE would be a solid get. I'm not the biggest fan of Shroeder or anything but it would be wise if its only 1 year.

If everything done so far was towards cap space in 2022, why do the Smart Extension now? I'm now highly confused.

I think they do, but I don’t know that they are all that interested. They seem to be saving money after getting Westbrook, trying to fill in with minimum types. They let Caruso go. I know there were some comments about his deal but it’s actually a really good value and he’s the type of guy that LA could probably use on the perimeter with his D.

The Knicks with that coach and that roster could be a surprisingly very good team. They seem to have bought in with him and Kemba is the best 8 million dollar lottery player in the league at that price. This is just an observation not a continuance of my negative narrative of late. Seriously just look at that roster, they have a lot of potential and when Tom's teams buy in they compete hard.

The idea of doing all this to open up 20 million doesn't excite me, given everything that will take. Trading another first to dump Horford. Then if you want max space trading Horford and Smart to teams without taking back salary isn't that easy. If you wanted to go the asset route for trade, I would have done many different things. For example who can you get that's better than Lonzo Ball next year? Is this little bit of flexibility worth not putting together the best team this year? Just when it looked like Brad picked a path, he's now back tracking.

Seriously just look at that roster, they have a lot of potential and when Tom's teams buy in they compete hard. I see last years team, #1 in points per game allowed and they added Kemba and Fornier, two players that will help with offense, yet kill their D. I like their rookies, yet I don't see how their coach doesn't go crazy. You won't be able to be a defensive team with Walker and Fournier. I don't see them as good enough to make them elite on offense. If I was the GM I would have targeted better two way players because of that coach. All that money after such a good year and they spent it just like the Knicks always do. I'd give the GM an F if it weren't for the Randle extension and the draft picks.
