Wow. Houston is a team I wouldn't want to see the Sox have to face in the playoffs. They really can't beat those guys unless Odorizzi is pitching - so hopefully they win that game because otherwise....
Perez was due to get bombed. His ERA when all is said and done will settle in somewhere between 4.5 - 5. His ERA was too pretty, so the Astros blew it up on him.
Didn't really matter much anyways because other than Odorizzi the Sox haven't hit anybody on the Astros' staff. That's one pretty nasty staff. Valdez and Garcia got great stuff, and that team can hit.
It's hard to believe the Sox are 3 games better than Houston or whatever it is because I think they're the best team in the league quite honestly, at least from what I've seen.
Tampa never loses, but they're nowhere near as intimidating. The White Sox are hugely talented but have the wrong guy managing them. The A's are a really good team, too, but of all those teams I think the Astros are the best. I'd say the one area where maybe you can do some damage against them is their bullpen, but except for when they're playing the Sox, I think the Astros have been doing some underachieving, but I think they're too talented to not get red hot soon.
At this point I hope the Sox don't get swept by them. At least to help matters Andriese, Workman, and Valdez did a good job finishing up the game so that the high leverage guys got a day off.

Not gonna be worried about the Astros staff in about a month or so...have a feeling the spin doctors have left the building

Not gonna be worried about the Astros staff in about a month or so...have a feeling the spin doctors have left the building If that's the case it's going to range wider than the Astros and Gerit Cole. I wouldn't be shocked if the better than expected pitching performance of the Red Sox has some element of "spin" as well. It's probably more of a league wide thing than a specific team or pitcher type of thing.

I've wondered whether Spingate is perilous for Cora. MLB clearly has him on zero-tolerance status for cheating and could hold him accountable if it turns out RS P's are loading up the ball and he's not doing all he can to stop them.
He should be warning his P's repeatedly in front of his coaches, other players and even in the press. Send texts to the P's. Create a record and a lot of witnesses.

I have a feeling the sticky substance thing is going to be handled more like PEDs ("hey guys, we're going to start enforcing this even though we've turned a blind eye previously, cut it out") than sign-stealing ("that was too far on something we've let go to some degree and we're punishing you").

They aren't going to single out one manager when 90% or more of the league is doing it. This has been going on for a long time and is only now becoming a real problem because some or many are taking it too far. Happens in all walks of life that is why their needs to be laws and regulations, people just always go too far. Isn't that what parenting is about from an early age? Give an inch take a mile, kids are always testing boundaries and adults are the same, people get greedy and want more success, money what ever it is they desire. Heck if it wasn't for the batters getting sick of it this year it would continue on longer but they have had enough and I don't blame them. Just like in life they need to enforce the rules ot someone gets taken advantage of.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that in particular Correa, who has shown no contrition at all, and Bregman, who by default is an arrogant a** make it really hard for me personally to turn the page on their scandal. You can't help but think when they keep hitting with RISP if something is still going on there. Would it be stupid? Sure, everyone is gunning for them, and this time they could be punished individually, but considering how the individual players handled the situation after it was reported, I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that they would go to that well again.

Kiké has to take charge there as the CF. Just cost the Sox a run there.

Astros cheating again? Ridiculous how they are all over our pitchers and no one else really is

Just awful pitching lately. Eovaldi ... needs just two more outs to qualify for the win. He sure is the "pitcher of record"

Lotta buzzard luck tonight and Odorizzi looks more like the guy who pitched last year. Not a good combination for the Sox but still opportunity here.

THREE hits? What's up with more struggles at home?

At least the Bruins are doing well. not. they were, but no longer Bye Rask. Underachieving has become the staple of the Bruins.

Home sweet home. this is why you shouldn't get carried away with a couple of sweeps because the next one could be right at your doorstep. Dusty Baker is very good manager.
