Can Santana be sent down? I know he has 2 options, but is it possible he signed a contract that said that, after the initial rehab/ST games, he could not be sent down? Santana, more than 5 years MLB service time. Can't be optioned without his permission Then DFA the guy. I mean, how much longer until we see if the guy with a .200 OBP can catch fire? I love his speed and his versatility, but the Sox already have a few utility guys. And if it gets to a point where they reach the playoffs and need a Dave Roberts, then they have Franchy.

And Arroyo out of the doghouse: Other than resting CVaz (which is necessary), this is the ideal lineup.

Was thinking the same thing, for now.

The Red Sox are 43-28 (only 10 games to the midway point in the season), and they lead the AL East!
Houck and Sale are on the horizon as starting pitchers. Duran will eventually supplement the outfield. Maybe all the Red Sox need in trades is another high leverage setup arm.

Are we pretty confident Houck will be in the rotation though? If he replaces anyone, who would it be?
My guess would be they move ERod to the pen (he takes Darwinzon’s role, who gets optioned) when Sale comes back. For Houck they’d have to DFA someone.
Edit: I forgot about rosters expanding haha. So they probably don’t DFA anyone unless they’re pretty bad?

I think ERod turns it around. By season’s end, I bet the front 3 are Eovaldi, Sale, ERod.

Getting a kick out of Kiké! 2 runs is a good start.

Kiké: OK, Cora, if you want to take me out of the 1 holeI'm gonna show you how I can REALLY hit!

I’m very sorry for the health issues that Jerry Remy is dealing with. But, he’s really off his game today. And don’t get me started on Tim Wakefield. Shows how valuable Eck is to the booth.

X leaves a man at 3rd because he HAD to swing 8 in out of the zone at ball 3.
This is a teamwide illness. Perhaps a group enema?

Oh man I’d love for Dalbec to get going. I was up until past 11:00 doing Dalbec numbers. And I don't mean PM.
But your wish has already been granted. Since June 10th, he's been hitting both RHP and LHP well for the first time all season.
Top line is expected and second line is actual, last # is [x]wOBA:
9 PA vs. LHP:
.183 / .183 / .656 = .339
.222 / .222 / .556 = .356
Obviously saving the best for 2nd ...
24 PA vs. RHP:
.348 / .430 / .776 = .502 .429 / .500 / .952 = .594
As of right now he's .387 / .441 / .839 in his last 34 PA, playing every inning of every game (8 plus a fraction).
And he's been killing RHP since May 23rd, so the assumption that we need to add a 1B who can hit righties may be premature. Sordid details following.

They're fortunate to be 2 down (bad d). And don't look inclined to fight back in this one (it's hot). But how can you doubt their comeback ability with 4 innings left.

This team can't pitch without cheating it seems. Amazing how far this staff has fallen off.

Ooof. That lump on Kiké’s leg a bad sign of how hard those two collided.
