Yeah, advanced defensive stats take more than one year to stabilize. We have evidence now. He's probably better than Xander at SS, but they would never risk upsetting Xander by asking him to move for a guy who won't be playing in the playoffs. |

How did they not walk Schwarber with runners on 2nd and 3rd? In fairness it looked like they had no intentions of throwing him a strike, it just didn’t matter lol That Eck call of that second one is wonderful. I'm listening on repeat on twitter. |

They could go full f*ck defense and put Bobby at 3rd, Schwabs at 1st and Devers at 2B. The interesting thing there would be that it moves Kikè to CF, where he is a bonafide plus defender. So it’s not sacrificing ALL defense at least. Plus Devers has ok range, I bet he could play an ok 2B. I feel like most of his errors are throwing errors and this would make the throw a little easier more often than not too Devers would do some things at 2b well, some things not so well, like turning the double play. There's a reason the average 2b is 5' 11', 191 lbs. Can anyone think of a 2b who was 6' 0", 240? Here is a story many will have seen about 2bs getting bigger, but not 240 lbs yet (Shaw was 6-4, 230, LeMahieu 6-4, 220, Moustakas 6', 225; Uggla was 5’11, 210) www.nytimes.com/2021/07/14/sports/baseball/second-basemen-changes.html |
