I don't know who these are exactly, but I was noticing that all the possible LHH 1b or UTIL we could have signed are doing poorly. Brad Miller, Colin Moran, et al. Is one of them Soler? Rizzo? It seemed to me that Chaim should have been willing to spend more than Shaw money on that spot, but it would not have helped so far this season. I do expect Brad Miller to hit better as the year goes on, though maybe not as well as last year when he could pop home runs over that RF fence in Philadelphia. So many frogs kissed, so few princes this year. Woah, Soler is .176 .278 .329 .608 Answer: Yankees top three prospects. Volpe, Peraza, Dominguez

Anthony Rendon hit a bomb last night off Rays OF Brett Phillips, batting left-handed. www.audacy.com/weei/sports/red-sox/anthony-rendon-slugs-homerleft-handedas-angels-no-hit-raysI've long thought that hitters should go to the plate opposite-handed when facing position players pitching. You hear hitters say that facing 50-mph junk from position players can screw up their timing and have lingering effects. They also don't want to be the guy who makes an out (or worse, Ks) vs a position player. Going up there opposite-handed solves all of those problems and you might even show the world that you've got real "oppo pop" like Rendon did.

Seems to have been one of the luckier no hitters. Only 2 K's.
Harold Ramirez for the Rays had balls hit with xBAs of .940, .650, and .660.
The entire team had an xBA of .228, which gives them an expected number of hits of 6.2.
Funny enough, the Angels had 1 hit less than expected and they still had 18.

Hard to understand why the Yankees haven't cut Josh Donaldson already. The guy should be run out of MLB. No room in the game for people like him.

Tim Anderson compared himself to Jackie Robinson in 2019 for being the Jackie Robinson of having fun in MLB in an SI article. Anderson and Donaldson reportedly have joked about it with each other since then. So this becoming an incident is stupid. I put more blame on Anderson for not squashing this or at least say that they have never discussed it and call Donaldson a liar about it. He hasn't done any of that. And even then, when you call yourself Jackie Robinson, how is it racist for someone else to call you Jackie Robinson?

If Donaldson's interpretation is taken at face value, then there's no issue. But obviously Anderson (and others on the White Sox) interpreted it differently.
It looks to me like it's just impossible to judge from the outside - the meaning of what was said probably depended on context, tone, and stuff that you would have had to be present for to parse. So I wouldn't blame anyone for just shrugging and saying, 'who knows'. But it seems a little odd to default to the interpretation of a douchey Yankee, of all people.

I don't like doing it, especially because I wasn't a fan of Donaldson before he was a Yankee. But again, he called himself Jackie Robinson and a white guy can't call him Jackie Robinson because it's racist?

I'm not going to get into parsing what does and doesn't count as a racially insensitive remark, because again, the meaning here seems totally context-dependent, and any such parsing would just be speculating on things we don't know about. That's why "who knows" seems like a reasonable response, but also why I don't understand what the basis would be for presuming Donaldson's perspective is the only credible one.

I guess Donaldson's version is the most authentic version, therefore we need no more information to declare it authentic, and therefore truly contextual, or; we could look at the dynamics of the saga between the two to search for a more reasoned context: www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33965160/chicago-white-sox-closer-liam-hendriks-rips-delusional-josh-donaldson-jackie-comment-tim-anderson"Us in this clubhouse, we have [Anderson's] back and everything -- and that was just a completely unacceptable thing," Hendriks said. "Again, [the Yankees] are trying to whip it out as being an inside joke -- no, that's horse s---. They don't have those sorts of things going on. ... That's like having an inside joke with a guy who you are a nemesis with, I guess you could say. "But that's not how it went down in this clubhouse, and I don't understand how [Donaldson] ever thought of it like that. It's just straight delusional."

Well Anderson can come out and say that Donaldson is lying, but he hasn't yet.

A great day when the Sox win and the Rays, Jays, and Yankees lose...twice.

Anderson dominated the Yankees today lol Good for him. Going only by the histories of the two players -- one who wants to be known as the Jackie Robinson of having fun and one who is undeniably talented but has been traded four times and bounced around from team to team with perennial reports of being a difficult teammate -- there's one guy who seems to deserve the benefit of the doubt more than the other.

Like your comment. The problem often is that where our strongest affinities lie tend to determine whom we choose to believe.
