What an epic season so far. I listened to last night's game. Announcers couldn't believe the Bs won with being so outshot and playing so listlessly. Historic stuff going on.

Meanwhile, this Trade Deadline might be one of the craziest I've ever followed. Big names "coming off the board" every day and it's not even Friday yet.
Still wonder if there is anything else (besides potential cap moves) to come. My gut would have said no but I wonder if the Hall injury and, now, a potential Foligno injury (not sure if there has been anything on that), maybe they need to add another forward.

By the way, I've already worked out a plan to extend Orlov.
1. Trade at least 2 of Reilly, Forbort and Grzelcyk 2. Trade Taylor Hall 3. Get Bergeron and Krejci to repeat their deals 4. Sign Past for 11 per 5. Sign Orlov for 6 per (his reported asking price in Washington)
That leaves you 7.7M in space (including the estimated 4.5M for this year's Bonus Overage which could decrease if you can clear room at the deadline and accrue space).
Not sure how much more than their QO's Frederic and Swayman will get but you have wiggle room.
Top 2 lines plus Coyle/Freddy are intact. Current Top 4 (maybe plus 1 if you only trade 2 of the D) defensemen would return. Both goalies as well. 3rd line W (Lysell?) and 4th line C and W (assuming Greer has 1 spot) plus a 13th F and another D (preferably RH) or 2 (if you trade Grz - but then you'll have more room) should all be less than 1M anyway (get veterans at the deadline).

Their are other considerations that may help you keep Hall:
1. Accruing that space by moving someone THIS year 2. Trading all 3 of the D mentioned and filling bottom pair with much cheaper salaries (including giving Zboril a regular gig) 3. Don't think it should be expected to get Bergy for much cheaper than the 2.5 hit but i'm not sure how the bonuses work so maybe it's possible for only a small reduction to him (but bigger reduction on his hit) 4. Maybe Krejci doesn't come back. Zacha moves to 2C with Hall and Pasta. 5. The holdup on Pasta was reportedly due to assurances that they'd remain competitive. Reducing that ask would certainly help keep this thing going 6. And maybe Orlov would follow suit 7. It's even possible they trade a G (I put it last for a reason).
Anyway, there are ways to make this happen.

B's getting Tyler Bertuzzi from Red Wings. 24 1st (protected) and 25 4th. With no retention, that means someone is going on LTIR. Also means, chance to accrue Cap Space (and cut into bonus overage) disappears.
EDIT - Reports now that Det is retaining 50%. Still need a move.

And the pasta deal *chefs kiss*
I wanted a new front office after the inexplicable MM signing- I gotta say I’m quite happy they didn’t do that after the last week
Talk about going for it

Great answer its as if the response was your own actual response without influence and that you actually watched the sources i refered to. Clearly you did not. Can even one person respond who has a shread of knowledge that saw the documentaries etc? Listen simply because you can't handle the response does not make me a basement dwelling tin-foil hat wearing person, in fact I'd question you where that though of yours even comes from? You can't respond to that either because that thought is not your own either. Before you accuse me of belonging to one party or another I'd stop you there too. No political party should think for you. If you think strictly by party lines then maybe just maybe you are the problem because you think along party lines instead of for yourself. Hopefully fodder for thought. I'll tap out here if you'd like to continue do so off line as this is not the correct venue for this conversation, all apologies. A bank laundering money has no correlation to poor refereeing. Refereeing is very very hard. The game moves fast and you have to continuously look around. Guys make mistakes, huge ones, bad ones, remember they don’t have the benefit of replay. We’ve all been in situations in real every day life where we thought we saw something that wasn’t. It happens. Get annoyed then get over it. But don’t think there’s a conspiracy because of a bad call no matter how terrible it was.

Get annoyed then get over it. But don’t think there’s a conspiracy because of a bad call no matter how terrible it was. Watch the netflix special on gambling in sports including the one about Donaghy the referee that was fired by the NBA, a league which threatened to sue any publisher from him writing his story. If you watch that with out your mind being glued to the idea you don't want it to be true you'd sing a radically different song. That and regardless of what you think the moment they legalized gambling through apps for the major sports has forever changed any arguement of substance to believe sports is holier than though and without question. It's beyond niave. Before responding watch the special on it. Listen I truly would rather think different than I do. But I can't ignore something so obvious. I when I say the game is rigged sure their are times it may be a simple bad call, that does happen, but the way the rig em is it's not every game and they mess more with the betting line than the game itself, sometimes those are one and the same. The way Donaghy explained it is to brilliant for him to have made it up. Money makes the world turn.

In other news, Pasta official. 8x11.25 Other than winning the Cup, this has been the second best set of news we could hear this year. Going for the season record and all that won't reaally mean to much without winning the Cup now if they win the Cup and set the season record then that makes the whole thing that much cooler and unforgetable. I hope Hall makes it back. My understanding is he has to be out a minimum of 10 games for the B's to use the loop hole and keep the roster with Bertuzzi in tact without making any other moves. TB did it one of the years they recently won a Cup.

There's no question we're going for it and anything short of a Cup is a failure.
Unless I've made a mistake, I believe we are down the following draft picks going forward:
2023 1st (Orlov/Hathaway) 2nd (Lindholm) 5th (Smith dump)
2024 1st (Bertuzzi) 2nd (lindholm) 3rd (Orlov/Hathaway)
2025 2nd (Orlov/Hathaway) 4th (Bertuzzi)
Man, that's a lot for a team considered to have one of the worst farm systems in the league.
Oh well, Sweeney can't draft anyway.
Good news for the future is Pasta, McAvoy, Zacha, Carlo and Lindholm are signed long-term and there are other young established guys like DeBrusk and Frederic. Plus guys with potential like Lauko and Zboril.
A couple things I think made it easier for them to decide to trade all those pick: 1. Brett Harrison has had such a good season that I suspect they think they might have 3 impact players on the way in he, Lohrei and Lysell, regardless fo prospect pool ratings. 2. I would think they know they have to move a Goalie this offseason, and with he way these guys are playing, they are probably counting on getting some draft capital back.

Gotta love what we're seeing out of the new additions already, and what Bertuzzi generally brings to a team (based on every other year of his career when he doesn't suffer two broken hands in the same season).
Makes you wish you had the space to sign an Orlov, Hathaway or Bertuzzi to complement the core...sadly, Taylor Hall and Charlie Coyle say hi, with their absurd salaries compared to their production. Swayman likely gone too. Maybe there's a cap bump next year that gives us some room for one of them to stay around, or you get lucky and dump Reilly and somehow wiggle one of them in...of course then there are your top two centers...

Extending any of the new guys or not, I think hard decisions are coming. As indicated above, I think only 1 of DeBrusk and Hall end up on this team after next season. So how do you handle that? Let JD walk after next year? Same with Grz and Forbort (and Reilly).
If the plan is to just let them walk, then not having the draft picks or robust pipeline (it's probably better than "public" evaluators suggest - even if not "ranked higher") can be crippling. That's why I think they'll look to trade off some of these players to replenish some of that.
Ty Anderson, yesterday, thought Krejci was one and done. So the hope would be that Zacha can improve at the dot and be your #2 C (he certainly has developed some chemistry with Pasta - just about improving at the responsibilities of being a C instead of a wing.
As to Swayman, I'm with Ty on this one too. If you're biggest concern is depth at C, a damn good way to offset that is a lockdown D and stout goaltending. He projects that Sway could get a 3.5-4M bridge deal. Paying 8.5-9 on THAT goaltending tandem is not unrealistic. Especially if you're not (can't) spend on high end Cs.
The plan I had outlined in my previous posts above was based on creating room to re-sign Orlov. I think some of it happens regardless.
PS I REALLY don't like Bertuzzi and hope that they don't re-sign him.

They’re playing like a-holes today, I kind of love it
Haven’t seen them try to bully another team in awhile. Sending a message on national tv against a playoff team

I’m usually all in on the fun of projecting forward but for once let’s just enjoy this team and not care what happens next year and beyond. This is pure insanity. They NEED to win the cup. Bergeron deserves another one. There’s no one more deserving of it.

Anyone looked to see when the last time was that both the Bs and Cs were so dominant? That run in the 1970s has to be it, Bruins were elite or great for most of the decade and the Celtics had their best regular season ever in 72/73, were very strong in 74/75, and won the title in 73/74 and 75/76 in less dominant years. But to narrow it to a specific year, they sort of just missed each other. The Bruins peak dominance was 70/71 and 71/72, then dropped a bit in 72/73 when Celtics peaked. 73/74 might be the best option as the Bruins had their 6th best regular season by point pct and the Celtics won the title with their 25th best regular season by win pct (which is crazy that season barely breaks into the top 25, as they were second best in the NBA that year). Same thing in 2007-08 when the Celtics won the title (3rd best regular season) but it was the following season when the Bruins nearly won the presidents cup (9th best regular season). This year's Celtic season is just their 20th best season. 1988 Bruins lost in the Finals and the Celts lost in Eastern Finals.
