How has baseball "journalism" turned into such garbage. Come on Heyman, can't be jumping on something of that size without verifying it 100 percent.

I'm actually even more convinced that he's going to SF now. You don't tweet that without hearing something from someone trusted. I bet he got a call from Judge's agent telling him to back off because they're still "negotiating".

And for all the hand wringing over "the state of baseball journalism" it isn't just baseball, and it isn't just journalism, but the internet happened. To quote 30 Rock "It's the 24 hour news cycleJack, there's no time to do it right."

Bellinger to cubs 1 year 17.5M. Just one season so not much downside I guess but don't see that really providing much value to them.

He’s looked like a shell of his 1H 2019 self for a long long time. Even for a 1 year deal, I wouldn’t have liked that. The flip side of this is that as bad as he’s been, I can’t completely rule out a bounce back. I’m just not a believer in him at this stage.

Same I doubt that contract provides them much value, if I was betting I'd bet its a negative value contract. On the flipside I will say I get it for them Cubs. They're in a rebuild with probably not a whole lot of pressure right now. Maybe he revitalizes his career with the change of scenery. That being said the Sox don't really have the luxury right now to go burning 17.5M on a guy like Bellinger. They need to put money towards more sure things.

MLB asked SF and Judge to hold off on the announcement until after the draft lottery tonight. They want to see how well it does.

Damn, that really sucks. He would have been a great fit for the Red Sox. I really wanted him on the Red Sox. Now where do the Red Sox get a RH power hitting OF? I'm guessing it's not Aaron Judge.

This is disappointing. Not just that the team didn’t get Haniger, but that we knew that Boston’s interest was high and they came up short once again. That OR the team in general is not making good impressions on free agents…

Well, several top FA's still available (Judge, Correa, Xander, Swanson, Nimmo, Rodon, Senga) but the next level of Plan B options is disappearing

I think the cost for Haniger was reasonable given the free agent market cost.

I like this for Philly. Underrated starter. I thought for sure Eovaldi would be the next one signing.
