Angel Hernandez is like MRSA. Every time you think you've found the right concoction of antibiotics and antivirals, he just keeps showing back up..

Hypothetically could mean either Berti or Wendle is available, though they're both versatile enough that maybe not. I'd like Berti, love some stolen bases, though Wendle might make more sense for them to trade of the two given team control.

MFYs cornering the market for old, ineffectual front office castoffs. Minaya signs, per MLBTR. Another one a couple of days earlier.

Reminds me of how Dombrowski brought Tony LaRussa in to be just sort of a dim lurking presence in the organization. And then of course he ended up a manager again, of all misbegotten things. Old Baseball Men hang around forever, like weird odors at a roach motel.

I don't know whether you're referring to Brian Sabean, who joined the MFYs FO. But I wouldn't call him ineffectual. In fact, I would have liked to have his wise counsel and experience guiding Bloom.

You're right -- Sabean it was. I suspect Chaim has far better advisors. The game evolves too fast for the old farts to keep up.

I assume you mean 65 yr olds like me who have been enlightened by O.P. S. and W.H.I.P. because it duplicates our secret formulas to value strat-o-matic baseball cards ? Can't and never will get W.A.R., but can scout the hell out of a prospect with his eyes ??

If two teams balked at getting the deal finalized as was originally negotiated pre-physical I don't really see why the same exact thing wouldn't happen with the next team.
That being said I think he'll get it figured out with NYM but I said the same thing when the giants originally balked.

It's never too late for a "mystery team."

If it follows Heyman's offseason tweets, the Mets should be signing Correa any time now.

Offer a high AAV for 3 or 4 years. Maybe 5. His game would fill a need for the sox on both sides. Flex the financial power that we all know the sox have.

With the way negotiations with the Giants and Mets have gone, you have to think the issue is not something degenerative, but more some kind of weakness that could cause serious injury at any time.

If the Steve Cohen-owned New York Mets are having hesitancies with spending money, you know something is probably up.
