A Seabold for Leiter swap might actually be a good move. Steamer projects Leiter at 3.56 xFIP (0.4 WAR) and Davenport’s model projects him at 3.68 ERA (0.6 WAR). Leiter cleared waivers and can become a FA if he wants

FreshPrinceWe?.gif Speak for your own damn selves. If you're lamenting not getting Chapman, time to do some self reflection. Nobody holding a gun to you and making you watch the 2023 team. Chapman gun pun intended I don't understand this, you do know that nobody in the front office reads the forum, right? The opening day roster is ass and I'm not sure why we shouldn't lament this.

What about my post was directed to the front office? I was calling you out for complaining about the Sox not signing Chapman. Again, nobody is forcing you to watch this "ass" team. In fact, why are you even wasting your time on a Sox forum?

Wait, you know what the Opening Day roster is already? Your sources must be pretty high-ranking, do you mind summarizing any surprising additions/omissions? Your analysis of it was so well thought-out that I'm sure you must've spent a considerable amount of time thinking logically about it.

In fact, why are you even wasting your time on a Sox forum? Brother I can be many things in this life, but I will NEVER advocate signing someone who abuses women. Read my post again, I wasn't complaining about not signing Chapman, I was being ironic towards the discussion of signing him. Wait, you know what the Opening Day roster is already? It was almost universally people say no thanks. I think one person said they would. This type of back and forth is making this site miserable to come to sometimes now. People are allowed to be upset about this off-season. But guess what, people are also allowed to be excited and/or willing to wait until the final product is put together. That doesn’t make someone a “bootlicker”. The level of conversation on this site has sadly gone down over the past year or so, and this whole back and forth is unfortunately one giant advertisement of that.

I don't understand this sentiment either. I'm not DISALLOWING you to be excited, I made a one line joke about the current state of affairs the way I see it. I don't like where this franchise is going and it's pretty obvious why. You look at this roster and you're excited, I look at this roster and see JAGs everywhere. I get that I'm too negative and I'm sorry, I didn't want to make things miserable lol. But being excessively and blindly optimistic isn't fantastic either.

I never said I had any problem with your original post did I? Like I said before, people are allowed to feel however they want about the team. It’s the back and forth that comes after with the sarcastic comments from other posters after your initial comment and then the “Bootlick harder” comment that literally accomplishes nothing. I also never said I was excited about the roster. Not sure how my comment says anything about my perception of the team. I literally said you can be happy, sad, indifferent, whatever. The point is that the needless back and forth with nothing to add just clogs up the site and makes it that much harder to get through well thought out posts, whether it is for or against the current iteration of the team. Adding an edit just to make sure you know I am not talking about you specifically with my comments because I’m not sure that is coming across fully. It was just the latest comment in the string/discussion and I am comment every comment involved. If it came across that way I apologize.

Yeah I admit the bootlicking response was largely uncalled for and that I should avoid topics I have nothing to add to. And I do understand that it wasn't a full blown discussion of people debating whether or not we should sign Aroldis, but seeing that kind of triggered a shitposting fight or flight response in my body lol. And the funny thing is, the one area in this team that I'm excited about is the pitching, be it relievers or starters. There are a LOT of guys I really like. Screw Aroldis Chapman! The line-up is really not good though. Don will perk up once Blaze mashes his first homer of the season ... That is until my man BLAZE comes in SMOKING BOMBS to all fields, CATCHING A FIRE across all major league ballparks!

Twins also get Jose Salas, 19 y/o 2.8 million bonus baby who has maybe been a little bit disappointing but is still ranked pretty high.
Seems like a pretty fair trade. Makes me think we might be getting Wendle.

So, uh... Marlins picked up another player who might fit in the middle of their infield, eh?

Makes me think we might be getting Wendle. I’d be happy with that. Plays multiple positions well and only is getting paid $6M this year. I’m not sure what the cost would be in prospects though. Not to get too crazy here, but I wouldn’t mind sending them Verdugo and prospects to get De La Cruz back as well. I think he’d hit well at Fenway, is a righty bat with pop which the Red Sox could use, and is under control until 2028.

Feels to me like Marlins got the better deal there, but depends how much of Arraez' 2022 you think is real and generally makes sense for both sides I think.
Hope it does open up Wendle to the Sox. A lefty who can play both short and second is the perfect fit for the team as constructed, and he's got big splits so he can play against righties with any of Arroyo, Kiké or Duvall sitting based on the matchup.

Seems like the Marlins could play Arraez, Segura, Wendle, and Jazz around the infield.

You can't trade The Verdugod, there's FAR too much uncertainty with the OF as it is unless you're 100% sure that Yoshida, Duvall and Refsnyder are going to be productive, which you shouldn't be.

I actually am a Verdugo fan and really want him to have a traditional peak and take the next step as a player. I just think if you can get a long term piece for the last two years of Verdugo, you have to consider it. If he proves he can handle RF at Fenway, his value may actually be better mid year anyway though. I don’t really see him getting extended here are the moment.

He's the one proven actually good starting OF they have if Kiké is playing 2B. If everyone else performs and Verdugo rebuilds some value by having a strong half, you consider parting with him. Until then, he's more valuable to the team than he would be in a trade.

With Arraez gone, I guess that opens up the AL batting average race for Yoshida to win. 2023 AL batting champion, Masataka Yoshida. You heard it here first

I agree in general that I don't think they should trade Verdugo, and he's someone I actually think could have a decent break out just doing what he did in 2020 over a whole year, but just to the bolded point - Duvall has actually been better cumulatively and on a rate basis over the last two seasons (and still on a rate basis if you include 2020).

Yeah but Duvall is coming out of wrist injury, which is not ideal. I still believe in The Verdugod, he has a pretty swing.
