Can't wait for ABS. Home plate umps have been horrible at calling balls and strikes.

It always amazes me when umps have the nerve to get offended that people want robots. If you were better at your job we wouldn’t be having this conversation!

It's an incredibly hard job that should of been replaced with robots a long time ago. Standing behind a catcher with a mask on determining if the pitch is in the zone when it crosses the plate is crazy to ask of someone.

It feels like every night there's at least one comment about you can't possibly get rid of Smith when Casas comes back. I would drop him in a heartbeat. He's kept the seat warm much better than Dalbec would have and he seems like a well-liked guy, but in terms of his roster fit and production I just don't get it.

Good news is that we have an opportunity here. Bad news is that I think Yoshida is slow enough to get thrown out on a home run.

The main reason I want to keep him is to make sure I never see Bobby Dalbec in a Red Sox uniform again

Is this why we can’t have nice things?
Because this seems like why we can’t have nice things.

Part of me wonders if besides ump incompetence that we dont get calls because there is a perception amongst umps that a fair amount of our pitching staff doesn't belong in the bigs and they don't get benefit of the doubt on calls that are marginal. Crazy conspiracy theory in my head.

Crazy conspiracy theory in my head. Or our catcher's framing is hurting them. You can't expect to dramatically move your glove on every pitch to a perfect middle/middle location and think the umpire doesn't sees that.

Eflin has executed the exact gameplan you'd want to in all of Devers' at bats

How many times does Bailey Horn have to suck before we determine that he isn’t major league quality?

I suspect that Shugart is about to make us think Horn is pretty OK. Hope I'm wrong.

This is one of those times where I'm talking about Cora hooking too fast. You cannot bring on Horn if he's just going to give you a single slightly better matchup but only face the minimum. If the guy just can't get an out, he should not be on the roster. If he can get an out, you have to give him a chance to try and fail. Beats burning out the whole pen.

Using Bailey likes he a LOOGY, but he’s nowhere near good enough at getting lefties (or righties) out.

I’m really glad Refsnyder made that play. That be pretty shitty to have your first batter ever faced at the MLB level get a hit off of you on some bad contact.
