that is pretty impressive. 3 homegrown guys making 30 starts, a lot of them very decent starts.

I'm always depressed as a baseball season ends and it will be months until I get to watch the Sox again - but this NESN booth has become so unbearable I almost feel relieved

Not ready to pull the plug on grissom but I'd be lying if the thought that maybe he's just one of those guys who mashes in the minors but can't hit ML pitching didn't cross my mind. Willing to give him a good shot next season though. Feels like calling Campbell up would be a rush job but can't rule him out as an option out of the gate either. They definitely need to give Grissom a chance to start ST healthy with everyone else and compete for a job. They believed in him enough to acquire him, so they shouldn't just give up on him at age 23, especially since he put up a 119 OPS+ in 156 PAs with the Braves in 2022. That's a relatively SSS but it's not nothing. If he starts slow and Campbell is mashing at AAA, well then...

The Blue Jays network puts its each hitters OPS+ on the screen. Grissom entered that PA with a 1. That's the first time I've seen that. I thought this was a joke, but no looking at baseball reference 1 is correct x.x Since he's come up it hasn't got any better... man am I leaning more towards Campbell making it out of camp. I actutally wasn't ripping the kid in pointing it out. I was mildly amused by it, as you were. Guys actually put up a negative OPS+ from time to time. I haven't looked at the calculation to figure out how that happens. Pablo Sandoval was -57 in 7 PAs in 2016.

not sure if pointing his left foot towards short is supposed to help Sims, but I can't really see that it does.

2 walks and 2 runs. typical. It's like 5 runs if they were playing Fatse-Ball. Which'll catch on soon, I expect. Any time now.

Houck was yanked after 5 strong innings allowing 0 runs and less than 60 pitches. Bello was over 70. Most likely just part of their plan with guys final start or two. Or let's hope anyway.

I think this is probably the reason. It could very well be his last start of the season. He gets to go into the off-season having ended 2024 on a decent note.

Here we go - another microcosm game. Great start, no offense, bad defense. We've had a LOT of these this year.

A healthy Story is a great piece to have in the middle IF mix.

A healthy Story is a great piece to have in the middle IF mix. A healthy story in 2025 could really fix a lot of their issues from 2024. Less Rafaela at SS. Which upgrades defense at SS and an OF spot. Hamilton more PT at 2nd if his development wasn't a mirage. Adds a RHH bat to the lineup. Feels like this team really is just handful of good moves away from being a serious contender, especially with the big 4 knocking on that door as well.

For context Duran at his age 24 season had a OPS+ of 53. Grissom can hit. Just a lost year for him development wise.
