Courtesy of a just posted article on WEEI "Since joining the Dodgers in 2020, Betts has finished second in National League MVP voting twice (2020, 2023), made the All-Star Game four times, and won two more Gold Gloves and three more Silver Slugger Awards. Since trading Betts to Los Angeles, the Red Sox have finished in last place three times (2020, 2022, 2023), and have a 353-355 record, good for a winning percentage of .498." Causalation is Corration, amirite?

Man the Dodgers are going to be so scary for awhile. They had a lot of injuries and still won it. I do think this series should’ve been closer, the Yankees made a ton of bad plays and could’ve been up 3-1 right now. This is going to be nightmare fuel for Yankees fans for awhile. If this was the Red Sox I’d have a lot of trouble sleeping with all those LOBs and errors as well as the game 1 granny. Their defense is just bad. Forgot about the error, Judge does not have the range for center. Soto in right. Yuck. Etc.

For when you need a baseball fix this winter - full Yankees implosion in the 5th:

Watching the condensed game: was there a harbinger of Judge's 5th inning cf error in his earlier great catch in LCF? When he made that great catch the ball hit the heel and not the webbing like you want. Then in the routine fly to shallow cf the ball hits the outside of his glove.

Judge finishes the postseason with a .184/.344/.408 batting line and a season-destroying error.

Judge finishes the postseason with a .184/.344/.408 batting line and a season-destroying error. Will history even remember that he was once known as a standout regular season performer?

Gerrit Cole pitched 12.2 innings over 2 starts in the World Series and allowed 1 ER* and the Yankees lost both games
(*Unearned in terms of the scorebook, certainly not unearned from the perspective of "hey man just jog towards first base")

Yankees peaked at an 89.3% win expectancy in game 1 and 95.6% win expectancy in game 5.

Perfect way to end it with Yankee unearned arrogance on full display.

In hindsight, I honestly wish they hadn't banned the a**hole Yankee fans who tried to break Mookie's wrist in Game 4 from attending this. It would have been a much better punishment to be forced to watch this hellacious collapse live and in person

Just a reminder that the MFY are paying Aaron Hicks next year too on top of paying DJ LeMahieu for 2 more lol

Is the Mets-Soto pitch meeting just playing this on loop on the video board in Citi Field while Jose Iglesias sings "OMG" over in the corner

Aaron Bates gets his ring. Cheering for him alongside his family at FaF is a highlight of my baseball fandom. Career 146 OPS+ in the majors!

Great to see the loss, but the MFY weren’t that great a team to begin with. Pathetically easy path to the WS and absent the hot start to the season, a slightly above average squad.
Not really a surprise that a better team won in 5 games, all things equal. You just worry that Baseball (the game) or umpires will rear its ugly head. Used to be that seemed to happen all the time with these f**ks. I cherish when it doesn’t, just slightly less that when our boys win it all.

I love Soto coming out and saying in essence that the Yankees have no advantage and whoever pays the most is getting him. I don't think that it is going to be the Yankees. Hal has been crying wolf already that oh no we can't have these high payrolls every year. Good luck trying to trim that payroll anytime soon if they give Soto 45-50AAV for 10+ years.
Take Soto off that team and they are just an older worse version of the 2023 Yankees that missed the playoffs.

Yankees free agents: 1B - Rizzo (club option likely declined) 2B - Torres LF - Verdugo RF - Soto RP - Holmes, Tim Hill, Kalhne (basically all of their set-up men) Maybe Jasson Dominguez (their top prospect) can slide into the OF. And they have a full rotation in Cole/Rodon/Gil/Schmidt/Stroman so perhaps they can spin say Nestor Cortes (who is in the last year of arbitration and they were allegedly dangling him at the deadline) into another position player. But even if they manage to bring Soto back they have a lot of work to do

embarrassing that you can't win when almost every game is rigged in your favor

Maybe not Torres so much as he has been historically an above average 2nd baseman by WAR standards and did pick it up late in the year. They will have to basically re-tool their BP though and who knows with Soto. Won't be an easy offseason to figure out for them and if they miss on Soto I don't really see them spending bundles of money elsewhere.

Hate to admit I literally turned off the game around the 4th inning. Whoops.
Happy the Yankees didn't win, but if the Dodgers get any more elite free agents I'm afraid they're going to kill the game.

People can talk about the rivalry being dead, and I'm sure it's not that interesting for neutral fans anymore. But I find myself taken aback at the level of genuine, nasty glee I feel watching the Yankees and their fans not just lose but suffer humiliation. There are very few things I truly hate in this world, but that franchise remains one of them.

I think this is true - although I find it hard to believe they would give Soto 10 bajillion dollars and then also turn around and give a 3 year deal to say, Christian Walker to play 1B or outbid the market for Tanner Scott. It's hard to fill 3 spots in your lineup and a huge chunk of your bullpen solely with cheap free agents. (With that said, they should 100% re-sign Soto even if they spend peanuts to fill out the rest of the roster.)
