It just seems (I have no stats just a feeling) that if the offense doesn't put up a crooked number in the first couple of innings they just shut down. Some of that is good pitching (Gausman yesterday), but I just feel a lack of belief if they get to the 5th with nothing to show for it.

Put the pedal down and stomp on the throat of all the AL East teams. Let's get it.

I have been following the Red Sox farm system on here for a long time. The last couple years have been a blast because of all the high level talent moving to the majors and up through the minors. That said, with all the graduations (and impending graduations of Benni and Yoan) I feel as though the cupboard is going to be a bit barren. There will be some top guys left like Devers, Groome, Kopech, but the depth appears to be challenged. The international sanctions have taken a toll on the places where we can bring in players to facilitate the depth of the system as well.
I am curious to hear some others thoughts on how they view the current crop of minor leaguers and who you are looking to to push the farm system forward.

Price should be pushed back from Wednesdays start to start the 1st game in Toronto. Someone should be temporarily inserted into the rotation to start the last game in San Diego. It should be Price, Porcello & E. Rod in Toronto. I also think this move lines the Starting Pitchers up better for the remaining games this year. They lack any good options to fill in though. Owens? Yuck. I agree that Price should pitch against Toronto and not the Padres, however. It's amazing how the Red Sox can't build up the wins against these last place teams.

Im excited to watch him. Definitely sounds like Farrell wants to play him. Hope he corrects those strikeout issues in the bigs.

Only 10 home games after tomorrow I think? Really sucks to be squandering these games.

Are a lot of his strikeouts due to trying to work the count too much? Sometimes being a bit more aggressive can lower the K rate. His walk rate is still great, so maybe being a bit more aggressive early will keep him from as many two strike counts.

Bradley and Bogey first pitch swinging double plays is just gross. They both have seemed to hit a bit of a wall.

Two hits and a 1-2-3 inning. Classic.

Would have been nice for Barnes to start that inning. Reactive management is always being a step behind.

The offense is making the margin for error sooooo low. It's making Farrell a way bigger factor than he should be on a nightly basis. Not with how well the pitchers have been pitching.

I feel like the Red Sox are always slow to diagnose injuries properly. They tell you one thing then weeks later it turns out to be another (usually worse) thing. Really hoping it's not an ACL tear, and something that doesn't affect the beginning of next year.

Bad loss, but I just can't get over how listless the team gets on offense. It seems like a complete lack of confidence when ever there's a scoring chance late in a game.
If the offense could get it going again the division race won't be close.

Farrell actually did a great job in this game. If he can bottle that it would be nice.

Also as highly as I think of Moncada, he is striking out a ton and guys like that have a pretty decent bust rate. There's a lot of developing that he needs to do offensively and defensively at 3B. Shaw still has plenty of value to this team present and future.

I know yesterday turned into an extremely winnable game, but if you were to pick a game that seemed like a sure loss in this stretch it had to be that one right? Day game after a night game/travel, with Buchholz on the mound? It screamed loss, and if we had lost 6-2 I doubt there would be much of a reaction. It hurt but time to see what a full lineup (maybe without Bogaerts) does the rest of the series.

Yeah I think he may be hurting more than he's letting on. It's been a defensive and offensive slide. Hope it's just a blip, though.

A bit off-topic, but curious on folks take on this - If the Red Sox go 22-22 over the last 44 games (While they have played > .500 on the Road, YTD, I do understand the RoS is heavily dotted w/ top-heavy AL East)... ...and, while winning the Division is the preferred Regular Season outcome, some team behind them will have to play AT LEAST .590 ball to beat Sox out of WC...(if Sox go 22-22, SEA would need to go 26-18 to beat them out of last WC)... How confident are you.of Sox playing at least .500 ball, RoS?...what team(s) behind them do you feel can finish at .590 clip or better over RoS? I think .500 ball is easily in the Red Sox wheelhouse (I'd be disappointed if the ONLY played .500 ball). The Tigers and Mariners feel like similar teams in this chase. Some talented hitters, but lacking pitching depth. It's hard to see them playing at a .600 clip, but baseball is crazy sometimes.

Pedroia and Mookie are cooking at the plate. Not too concerned about Ortiz. JBJ has been consistent this season. If Chili Davis can get Xander's swing back the offense could really take off.
He's hitting .173/.228/.173 in August with no XBH according to Baseball Reference. Getting him going at the top of the order could bring back the terrifying offense from earlier in the year.
