Count me unimpressed by Kelly. He's Webster with slightly more command but worse stuff.

Can't wait for the Mookie-Castillo-Cespedes outfied. Can't. Freakin. Wait. I figure that the probability that that OF configuration is together for any significant amount of time (say, at least the majority of one season) is 0.3 or less. And what makes Cepedes a potential big part of a super outfield? He hasn't shown much defensively since he joined the Red Sox. A few balls have fallen in for hits at Fenway because he was playing too deep. One was on Yaz's birthday, as I recall. I thought that was pure sacrilege, given the great Yaz's penchant for playing shallow and cutting off hits. BRef has Cepedes at -.8 dWAR for his career. In fairness, that's mainly because of his first year when he was -1.2. But the point is that he's not a great fielder. (The numbers show him as positive .5 dWAR since joining the Red Sox, but such a small sample size is probably worthless.)

Ah yes, the magic of pitch framing.

I so glad Ratner got thrown out. He always takes, takes ,takes, he drives me nuts.
Not for nothing but Xander woke up.

FYI, Yanks added 8 players today, so they are at 33 on the active roster.

The YES network just showed the overhead shot and the ump clearly missed the call. O'Neill and Kay are still whining about it.

Yeah, it was an egregiously bad call.

Yeah, it was an egregiously bad call. partially makes up for the 8000 Mariano Rivera called strikes that were balls.

Same kind of pitcher-- fastball with crazy movement and plus velo, but gets surprisingly few swings-and-misses on it and poor command. Webster has the better secondaries and Kelly has the better FB command, but they're similar pitchers.

NESN had a poll of the greatest All-time Yankee, with four options, and Babe Ruth was not on the list.

I am expecting multiple innings from Wright. If he is dominant, could be the story of the game.

Was the purpose to laugh at the fact that Derek Jeter could possibly be thought of a comparable ball player to Babe Ruth? Or Yogi Berra?

X making the routine plays is encouraging. I'm still holding my breathe but it bodes well for 2015.

Farrell has almost blew this game for us, If we lose it is on him. He leaves pitchers in their too long when they clearly are done.

I liked what I heard of Kelly... except for the part where if the Cards don't think they can turn him into a good pitcher, he must be hopeless.
Just checking in and seeing Betts with 3 hits. He might go into the season next year as the odds on OF favorite for highest OBP (unless you like Nava as much as I do). Used to think he was playing his way out of Boston, maybe he'll play his way back in.

Middlebrooks just looks flat out confused, 4 strikeouts on the night. That was a breaking ball right down the middle he could of crushed.

If we're going to blame FO for rushing people, WMB was definitely one.
