A Red Sox pitcher is going to pitch into the seventh inning... AND has allowed less than 5 runs... Unheard of! Let's keep it going.

I've heard enough from front office people (including one stat-loving former assistant Red Sox GM), managers and coaches I've met over the years who've told me they love having at least one hard-assed #2 or better starter on the staff You mean someone with a lot of experience? Like, say, John Lackey? Honestly Lackey is yesterday. I'll take Kelly's stats this year and the next x number of years over Lackey. Let's move on.

Rumors of a total starting pitching staff implosion were grossly overated. We will be fine as long as this staff is even average, and that appears to be what they were shooting for, with a roll of the dice that guys like Rodriguez, Johnson and Barnes would help before year end.

Hanley in left with Lackey pitching might get interesting.

Say what you want about whether Hanigan should have been bunting there, but it was a heck of a job putting that piece of crap in play.

Brian Butterfield needs to be fired.

Holt can play at least 8 positions ... he would clearly be a better 3rd base coach than Butterfield.

Ogando warming up... is Farrell scared of Tazawa vs. the Blue Jays or has he finally realised that clean innings with 3 run leads are not the situation where you have to bring in your best reliever?

Is it the Toronto unis for Tazawa or is he just terrified of the whole Canada thing?

In this corner - managed by the New Fake Skool - Rick Porcello - choose any stat that says he is better than he is. In the other corner - managed by Old Real School - Rick MyArmIsJello - 1-2, 6.00+ ERA, 90 million dollar anchor May the best man win!! What was that you were saying? Since you seem to believe so much in small samples and all. To the surprise of no rational person, Rick Porcello isn't a true talent 6+ ERA pitcher.

Wow, that might have been the worst called strike I've ever seen.

Inexcusably pathetic strike call by the ump to ring up Hanley there.

Nope, apparently Ogando was just throwing in the bullpen to get some work in, hasn't had enough lately.

Good to see a swinging strikeout on the fastball rather than the splitter.

Okay, I'm glad April is over.
Hopefully this Porcello start, resets things and the luck people are 100% right and things do a complete 180 in May and beyond.

I wouldn't get too excited about April ending. 12-10 really isn't that bad. We also have our longest road trip of the season starting next Friday, and it is of the West Coast variety.
