Why do I feel emotionally and physically like I just watched a World Series game?

In 3 games Vs 3 elite starters, we scored 20 runs! I like this offense.

Great comeback, lots of good offensive performances from the lineup (of course BROCK HOLT). Great performance from the bullpen (Barnes gave up some loud contact but it didn't matter) against a tremendous lineup. Joe Kelly did not command his fastball well at all today, and to boot got babip'd quite a bit. Hopefully he'll be better the next time out.

The three runners Holt drove in were charged to Stroman, and Chris Archer gave up four home runs in Baltimore. Those are decent pitchers. Things may settle down, but right now the hitting is dominating, and not just for the Sox. MLB said they wanted more offense and this may be part of it.

Good The lineup and production Kimbrell The rest of the pen X coming alive with wood in hands Shaw barehand play Tazawa rebound after 5 strike HR by Napoli
Bad Kelly losing his command Mookie taking a bad route on the Pillar triple JBJ throw to plate on Encarnacion sac fly
Nice win though. Really like this kind of a win for a young team; gets them believing they're never out of any game.

They figured that out last year, and since many of them played together in the minors, likely before that. They've got talent, and that's what this is about.

I apologize for TOTALLY off topic after an inspiring win, but did everyone see what ol' pal Jeremy Hazelbaker is doing?

Different players contributing each night thus far. If the pitching ever comes together, thus team could be very dangerous!

The bullpen just looks so much deeper this year even without Smith. The 7,8 and 9th innings with Smith when he gets back, Taz, Koji and Kimbrel are going to be fun to watch.

Already fun to watch the 2016 Killer-B's: Barnes, Betts, Bogie, Bradley, Brockstar. C'mon Buch, its not too late to climb aboard.

"I just feel that if you gave both Holt and Castillo both 400 AB in OF Castillo would give you more value. Holt's Bat does not play as well in OF as it does in infield."
"I don't think Brock Holt should be the LF. If they have decided that Castillo can't be the starter, then they really need to get someone else."
"We will not be an optimal team as long as we have Holt as our starting left fielder. That should be addressed now."

Yea I guess a sample size of 3 is better then a sample size of 1 that some on this board use. Holt has game of his life and quick start and you think that proves you right? Unless Holt has all of a sudden found Brady Anderson secret power, this proves nothing. Nice try though, will we still get updates when he goes hittless for 2-3 games?

Nah but I can give you updates whenever Castillo goes hitless for 3 games if you like. BTW, looking over that thread I figured out what your problem is - you seem to be under the misapprehension that "bWAR" stands for "batting WAR". (Hint: it doesn't.) Holt's bat plays exactly the same in the IF as it does in the OF, it's just his defense and the positional adjustment that project differently...

I haven't been able to watch a lot of the games but I've been keeping tabs with some gametracker through my ESPN app. Can someone please tell me why Shaw keeps getting pinch hit for. Every time I see him get pinch hit for, he's got at least two hits. Is it a left right thing?

A quick lesson in the vagaries of baseball: Matt Barnes has pitched 2.66 scoreless innings, but his average exit velocity: 95.5 MLB average: 90.3
He's fooling no one so far

A great win for sure...but we can't expect more than 4-5 of these all year. Barnes always seems to give up hard hit baseballs....Can Koji please teach Matt and Joe the splitter?! Mookie will rebound but right now he is swinging at anything...he just wants to hit.
Any word on Rodriguez???

Pinch hitting for Shaw there was dumb. They already had the lead and he's easily their best defensive third baseman. Shaw also hits lefties pretty well so you don't even have that to fall back on. If you wanted to pinch hit then it should have been for Holt. Not that I wanted that either. But you don't take your best defensive 3b out of the game with a lead.

Today's lineup:
Betts RF Pedroia 2B Bogaerts SS Shaw 1B Ramirez DH Sandoval 3B Holt LF Castillo CF Swihart C Porcello RHP
Castillo over Young because he's a better fielder I guess.

By allowing Steven Wright on the roster, the Red Sox are asking you to not watch them play every fifth day.
