Nice patience by Hanley there to get it to 3-2. the last pitch is borderline...it happens.

Odorizzi living at the top of the zone with the FB, a strategy I love as long as the pitcher changes the eye level during the at bat, unless it's a guy like Young who will just hack at RHP. He's asking us to score 5 runs but we're being gracious guests.

If this gets to Young, Farrell's gotta bring in Papi to PH and then run Holt out there, right?

Terrible at bat by JBJ.....no excuse to swing at first pitch...deserves extreme condemnation.

Where is the bases loaded regression to the mean? Or even to a 30% projection? This has been insane.

Still angry at the JBJ at at-bat

Longoria can't score on a groundball that he goes back to second base on. Sorry. Xander is stuck in mud on the infield.

If this gets to Young, Farrell's gotta bring in Papi to PH and then run Holt out there, right? In a close game, going into the last 3 innings, with 2 - 1.000+ OPS hitters in the bench, you need to look for spots for them to hit. Not at all saying that Farrell should have ph for JBJ, just saying that hopefully Lovullo stays in Farrell's ear "don't forget you have Papi and Leon available" type of thing.

Baseball, why do I love you so much when you're constantly playing with my emotions?

It seems like every time this offense seems set to get going on all cylinders, someone or other slips. Guys like Bradley, Shaw and Bogaerts have dealt with serious slumps lately.

JBJ's at bat was the type that just kills the adrenaline for your team.

As much guff as Bogaerts has gotten recently, Bradley has been worse.

Fantastic start by Drew, assuming he's done. No reason this game should still be tied.

Wow Is that accurate?

Just brutal. You alway keep running whether the batter makes contact or not.

The Sox need to win this game, I know it's a long season, but it seems to me that the time us now for a little urgency. Enough of the getaway day equals giveaway day mentality, Farrell writes out a lineup that doesn't seem quite good enough to win, and then the players go out and play not quite good enough to win. Maybe that's okay in the first 4 months of the season, but the calendar is about to turn to September, we are in a pennant race, and it's time to try to win instead of hope to win.

I admit, I've a big sucker for that big loopy old-fashioned curve. He reminds me of Bruce Hurst.

You can't let Holladay bat there with Leon on the bench, hope Holladay proves me wrong but it's still idiotic.

I assume Pomeranz is staying in so he can face Longoria one more time.
