Not to wish bad luck or bad karma on anyone, for sure, but wouldn't it be something if Porcello were to go down, Johnson would be brought up to take his place, and the Sox would have an all LH rotation!!!

He threw 85 strikes today. Loved his pace. Hitters live off pitcher's mistakes. Johnson was outstanding today. Still concerned about Pom and Price so having Johnson is helpful. I remain concerned about all 3 of our pitchers that start with P.

Gotta love John Farrell here. I've been a critic. But he's been doing very well with decisions of bullpen and overall as of late. A real leader. I was proud of him too for chewing out Pomeranz. Anyhow it's easy to like when you win 6 in a row. But I still recall last year he could have pitched around their cleanup hitter - I was screaming at the tv -- don,t pitch to him. walk him!!!
Now he is doing well.
I'm still very furious though with whether it be his decision or DD or whoever to start Pomeranz even from the beginning when they knew he couldn't throw his cutter. But now I think I see a Farrell that seems to try to manage to win like his 1st year as opposed to the cautious JF we've had that manages not to lose.

I did spend all season wondering why Hendricks (especially) and Velazquez were being given a shot over Johnson, and whether the organization was being criticized here for this irrationality.

One of the best regular season games I've ever been to. Great crowd, understood for the most part what was happening (recent crowds have not had that vibe), Johnson was incredible, and the team rolled.
Never seen that many people still at Fenway in the 9th of a non "important" early season game.
The emotion in the ballpark was easily felt throughout the ballpark over the last two innings.

Blain Boyer called up, do not know the corresponding 40 man move.

Blain Boyer called up, do not know the corresponding 40 man move. Hernandez to the 60 days DL. Also, Sandoval will continue his rehab stint for at least 3 more days.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but last night was Johnson's first time on the mound at Fenway since getting hit in the head during FaF, right?

We should get some more action in the GDT soon. I can't believe they don't shut out the other team every game.

Porcello's command just not there - lots of hard contact. Pretty brutal WP...let's keep this at one run.

Just no finish to his pitches today for Porcello. Everything looks flat.

Great job striking out one of the best hitters in the league with the bases loaded.

Three GDP in three innings so far today... against a pitcher with a career 37% GB rate.

Sox hitters seem anxious - not working up the pitch count very well - gotta get into the Mariners pen.

I'm not sure where Porcello should put the ball today. Cano hit a double off the wall on a fastball about a foot above the strike zone. Cruz hit a single off the wall with one hand on a changeup about 6 inches off the ground. These things don't normally happen.
Thankfully, the sequencing has been fortunate.

Why would you try a hit and run with Moreland running and JBJ at the plate? Neither Moreland has speed and JBJ tends to swing through some pitches. You're basically giving them outs John Farrell because you're freaking out about all the double plays today.

For the first time since late last season, Mookie looks a bit out of whack. Continued lack of patience. Only 72 pitches in the 6th...
