Everyone on the board literally hated on me for questioning "one of the best offenses in MLB" a week ago. Now the Sox look like a team who's fighting until the last game of the season for the division all over again because of the lack of thump in their lineup. Edit- Every single game the Sox have lost within the last week, they have lost in 3 runs or less in these games. Every game they've won, they scored 4 runs or more (they lost 4 out of their last 6 games directly because of the lack of scoring). Just so we're clear, you voiced your concerns about the offense not even 4 days before this statement. The sox are 2-2 since then, which is hardly the difference between running away with the division and 'fighting until the last game of season.' Also.....its April. Nobody is arguing with you that the sox are more likely to win when they score 4 or more runs compared to when they score 3 or less. Everyone here knows that. There was pushback to your initial statements because you stated that you had concerns about this offense, one that you described as a feast or famine offense....one that either "finds a way to score 7+ runs a game or they can barely score 2 runs a game." Since you said that, the sox have neither scored 7+ or 2 or fewer runs in a game. That is what the pushback was about, and in our minuscule 4 game sample, it doesn't appear as though the pushback was unwarranted. The problem stems back from last season. When this team scores 4 or more runs a game, they are nearly unbeatable. Literally Rick Porcello hasn't been beaten if the Sox score more 4 runs or more the last 2 years. That is usually the number that makes or breaks wins for this team because the starting pitching is good.

I don't mind the posts, but from a purely psychological point of view, it could be that the best start in the history of the franchise has rendered folks unable to deal with the normal randomness of the game. It could be a fascinating study. What is known is that bad baseball brings out negative posting. It is funny and we are all guilty of it. W're trapped on the hedonic treadmill Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Tie Game !!!

Looks like Betts is out. Hopefully, nothing serious. Looked like he was trying to stretch out his legs when he was at second base last inning.

i mean, he is a veteran player. He has to know that he has no shot....i mean, no shot....of making that play. He isn't Dustin Pedroia.

The difference a week can make. We went from playing flawless defense and grinding out at-bats to what we see now... unnecessary defensive mistakes and giving away at bats

Dave O'Brian thinks that the Rays got Duffy in the Longoria trade and in the same time mentions that he got injured last year lol I mean how the F could be so ignorant when it's your friggin' job to be knowlageable about AL East?

I think the Rays have a 1.100 BABIP in this game to go along with terrible defense by the Red Sox.

Three 80 mph ground ball singles and a 359 foot HR this inning for Tampa.

Nunez appears to be trying out some sort of slapstick comedy routine at second base today.

To say that the team defense will greatly improve when Pedroia comes back and Nunez is no longer playing 2B cannot be emphasized enough. I kind of hope he's traded because he's unplayable at 2nd.

We didn't have it today, we could've closed it since the 2nd inning but we missed our chance, it happens, baseball! Just a bizarre game all around, frustrating yes but very bizzare! Let's hope we get them tomorrow!

When they were 17-2 I felt this was a 95 - 100 win team. They're 2-5 and have been no-hit since and I still think it's a 95 - 100 win team. The problem is that the Yankees are, too and after owning a 7.5 game lead the Sox could find themselves in 2nd place before very long.
I don't think it's a crime of nature to point out where the flaws of the team are which is that the bottom of the lineup until Pedroia gets back is problematic - Nunez, JBJ, and Vazquez are hardly intimidating.
Nunez's defense at 2b is terrible. Again Pedroia - if he comes back completely healthy - fixes that.
I still think the Sox will ultimately need a bridge to Kimbrel. And I still hate what the Sox have done to Swihart's development.
The Sox are playing like crap this past week, and when they play well I'll say so.
