How bout Marcelo(Hometown kid) and Abreu for Tatis . If we also take Xander back for Story. Saves them a helluva lot of committed money. And, might allow them to keep Soto.

I just remembered something about Ohtani's last in-person visit to Boston (at least with the Angels - maybe he flies in to hang out at Quincy Market on off days). He pitched on Patriots Day, so he had to be ready at 11 am (obviously 8 am in LA), and it was also one of the worst weather days you'll ever see for a baseball game that was actually played. It rained all night the night before and was cold, rainy, and drizzly all day. The game was delayed an hour before first pitch, then another long delay after Ohtani pitched only two innings (although he played the rest of the game as DH). I wonder if that's the first thing he thinks of when he hears the word "Boston." To extend his pitching career I’d only pitch him on Saturday nights. Doesn’t pitch after travel days. Can always go Sunday if rainout and still pitch following Saturday. I want him for 10 years. Not 2-3. Want him for big games. As we’ve seen the last few years, many favorites are losing early in playoffs. Get in healthy with big game studs. Ohtani and Yamamoto. Along with Bello. Live from Fenway Park. It’s Shohei Ohtani!!

No, the Sox arent a slam dunk to make the playoffs with Ohtani the way the Dodgers would be The Angels won 73 games with Ohtani. The Sox won 78 games without Ohtani. Ohtani presence maybe gives them an additional 5 wins. If I were Ihtanu, I'd want to know that the Sox are bringing in 2 front line starters. If they do that could vault them to 90 win status and Ohtani would have a legit reason to think the Sox are a real playoff possibility, and the Sox do have some good position prospects on the way in Anthony. Mayer, and Teel. . I would think playing with Masa and Yamamoto would make it very comfortable for him in Boston. Can always trade for a starter. As soon as he’s healthy. 2025. There’s your Big 3. Ohtani, Yamamoto and Bello.

I beiieve anything but a sweep in the Det/Cle series gets us there. If Det wins 2 we would be tied with Cleveland at 76 wins, but pick ahead of them because of last year's record. And the picks above in your scenario and mine would be #7. Mets pick drops 10 spots.Only if they don't end up in the top 6. They currently have the 7th best odds so they very well may end up in the top 6 when the lottery takes place. If the Mets(host Philly) win one this weekend. Or, as long as Washington(at Atl)or St Louis(host Cincy) don’t sweep their opponents. Very doubtful Mets fall to 6.

I’d rather tack a year on to Turner’s deal than Duvall. Too damn streaky.Add 1yr 15m to keep JT for next two years.

Great loss. Need to recoup some draft positioning. Need more middle infielders. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Rafaela - CF Devers - 3B Duvall - LF Casas - 1B Yodhida - DH Story - SS Abreu - RF Valdez - 2B Wong - C I would like to see this lineup tomorrow, Turner needs some time off and it's time for the kids to get the majority of the playing time. Rafaela apparently needs to get his average over .500 before he can get a start. So dumb. And, have Teddy Ballgame’s eye!

Why are there so many garbage pitchers like Joe Jacques, Bear Claw, Brandon Walter on this team? Bad luck or just poor draft/development, or incapable of identifying good pitching in FA, this is on GM. Bloom refuses to draft power arms early.

This is it. White flag time. Separation between these 2 teams is significant. Play the kids Given good health, when is the next year we can reasonably expect to be better than them?

I so hate the Rays. They have this great record blah blah… where do those wins come from?? Add: I’ll say it: finishing behind them eats at me as much as finishing behind the Yankees. Just a hunch. Balco…

TB doing EVERYTHING they can to give this game to the Sox. Neither team seems to want the W. We’re bringing them down to our level. Monkey see. Monkey do.

If Perales ends up flaming out at Greenville, some people would say there's a woman to blame. Not if he learns how to breathe through his eyelids 😉

Nola's stuff the last year or so should give the Sox pause on signing him long term at big money. They probably don't sign him, Snell or Yamamoto but I'd prefer Yamamoto over the other two due to age. I just hope they don't double down on the opener approach. They need an innings eater in this rotation Nola pitches 205 innings last year with. 3.25 ERA and whip under 1. And 235 k’s. Certainly not as well this year. But hard to disregard last year if you think he’s on a downward spiral. HR’s are hurting him this year. Maybe, stuff is diminished. Let’s see how he finishes the year.

I like Nola over Snell. I just think Snell is a dink. I need mines interview in 2020. Gives me a David Price 2.0 vibe.

Not an excuse. But, I’d like to point out that this is his first year here. Travel in the US is much more than Japan. We play 20 more games. And, he played a huge role in WBC.
He probably has to get stronger. And, he’ll a year’s experience on how to handle travel load. I want to see him next year before giving him a final grade. I looked up Hideki Matsui’s stats. His OPS first year in MLB was .788 It increases to; 912,863,887&855 in years 2-5.
This guy seems like a big-game player who wasn’t ready for the mundane stretches baseball. Casas and Devers simply must get better on defense. Way too young to DH either of them. I can live with a meh LF playing 81 games at Fenway. For now.

Fabulous sweep. Yankees on an 8-game losing streak, 60-64, dead last in the East, 6 games behind us. Seattle and Toronto both won again, but the bright side is that Seattle's destruction of Houston has made it a four-horse race for two spots: Houston: 70-55 Seattle: 69-55 Toronto: 69-56 Boston: 66-58 38 games left. 7 of those are against Houston, and 3 more are against Toronto. Huge 10-day stretch coming up. Just need to go 6-1 against the Astros and 3-0 against the Blue Jays to leapfrog both of them. No sweat! Just win baby!

Kiké-->Story is a pure gain. But Rafaela in CF is a bit of a rob-Peter-to-pay-Paul situation, because then presumably you're pushing Duran to LF and Yoshida to DH, which means you're effectively replacing Turner's bat in the lineup with Rafaela's. Plus you'd lose Turner's flexibility in backing up 1B or 3B and then we're only one injury to Casas or Devers from having a major hole in the lineup. On the other hand they could bring Turner back, but then we're back to crummy defense in LF and CF. So how do you improve the defense, other than Story at SS?
Maybe they put Rafaela in RF a la HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED. He certainly has the range and arm for it, and he could also probably pick up a lot of right-center in doing so. Also, there may be a couple or three hitters not named Ohtani that give you as much offense or more than Turner, some defensive flexibility (in at least two cases an improvement) who are FAs, younger and with better fWAR. Not that I'm advocating any of these guys but: Cody Bellinger .327 AVE/.379 OBP/.554 SLG, 149 wRC+, 3.9 fWAR so far. Allows you to have a plus OF of Duran/Bellinger/Rafaela with Duran/Yoshida/Bellinger getting opportunities at DH. Jeimer Candelario (he avoids the QO because he was traded mid-season, right?) .273 AVE/.355/OBP/.490 SLG 128 wRC+ 3.7 fWAR (so far), plays both 3rd and 1st, so you get same flexibility as Turner in a younger player. Whit Merrifield .301 AVE/.346 OBP/.428 SLG 115 wRC+ 2.8 fWAR (so far) gives you positional flexibility between 2nd, OF and DH. RF is like CF in many stadiums. Drew, Victorino and Mookie are basically CF’s we played in right. Could a package of Verdugo, Hauck and a prospect not in our Top 5-6 land a good starter?

I want to say Story and Rafaela at SS but shouldn`t. Bingo! You got Bingo!! Story is moving to 2b once Marcelo is ready anyway. Why delay inevitable? I wonder if Story would have been ready sooner this year if we put him at 2b with Ceddanne at SS.

Phillies are totally gonna select him again It would really be a shame if they did. He needs two years in minors of development. Maybe, we put him on 40 if he finishes strong.
