If things go south in SD, I’m keeping an eye on him. Especially, if they want to keep Soto. They could use a lefty bat to balance out their lineup. We really need a RH bat to compliment Devers. If we’re not signing Verdugo to an extension. Him and another prospect? Yorke?? I have Story moving to 2b when Marcelo arrives. 2b eventually becomes Marcelo’s buddy Romero.
Seems to already love to put it to Yankees. Could kinda spin it as Mookie for Tatis.

Roman Anthony with another lead off home run. No video feed unfortunately. Is he related to Rickey Henderson? #leadoffhomers

I see very little chance of jumping TB and now Baltimore over the next two years. Toronto and NY are better than us too. What stud player is going to help us turn it around? Ohtani isn’t walking through that door. Even if Marcelo becomes a stud. It won’t be immediate. Bello looks fabulous. Not so sure about; Whitlock, Houck and Kutter.

The primary CF who actually CAN play SS. If he has ~3 decent months in Worcester could he break camp with the Sox next Spring? ETA: It might make sense as there is a non zero chance for him to be ROY and gain a draft pick versus delaying him to gain an extra year of control. One more thing to debate for the next 9 months Assuming he doesn't totally bomb in AAA, I would assume the Red Sox let Kiki go in free agency and replace him with Ceddanne. A successful 60 gm stint In Worcester, and that’s what I’m hoping.

Leadoff HR for Roman Anthony. 4th in 38 ABs in Greenville after hitting only 1 in 158 ABs in Salem. I’m ecstatic about it. But, equally baffled by it.

I think you start with a base, say $10 million guaranteed or something like that and then bake in incentives by innings pitched thresholds or whatever. It would be complex but if think if both sides want it bad enough there would be a way to mitigate the Red Sox risk but pay Paxton 20 plus million if he pitches 150 plus innings in a season or whatever. I'm sure some creativity can be done if both sides want it bad enough and although I'm talking in 1 year generalities I'm sure it can be done for say a 3 year period. Doubt 10 base gets it done even with easily attainable bonuses. I forgot what eovaldi got so I looked him up. He got 2 years guaranteed at 32 mil total with a vesting option for a 3rd if he totals 300 innings total over those 2 years. That sounds like a fine blueprint to me if he gets through the year healthy. I’d do that if I were the Sox and he’s healthy. We absolutely cannot count on Sale for anything. I wonder if pen is best for Sale next year. Closer with Martin as backup when he gets hurt. Trade Jensen and his money goes to Paxton.

I was under the impression that Sale is gone for the year but if he can come back by some point in September as ace Chris Sale or something close enough l, then I think even if the Sox were 5 games out they'd have to stay the course because if they somehow got Sale back pitching like he was prior to his injury and you if somehow Paxton stays healthy and Story comes back and stabilizes SS andcas a bonus Houck returns, even if it's a pen guy, then the Sox have a reasonable shot if they can snag a 3rd wild card. I would think this team has a better chance at say 5 out then last years team at 2 out. I say that because if Sale comes back I know he has the capability of being an ace, something I was unsure of last year. Of course even if he does come back that doesn't mean that he's quickly back to ace Chris Sale. But what feels different to me this year versus last year is this: A possibilty of Sale/Bello/Paxton and even Whitlock if he stays healthy, having a legit rotation that can potentially win in a short series, a better bullpen, and the emergence of Duran, assuming Cora lets him play, and even Casas who has been improving, which makes for a deeper lineup and again big if, but if Story comes back, provides RH power and can play a steady SS, then this team has a better shot than last year by a lot....and of course there is no saying that theyll actually be 5 out come August, it's just that if Sale and Story come back healthy and Paxton stays healthy, the team has a reasonable shot. Again big if. I could hear tomorrow that Sale had a setback, etc, and I change my mind, but I'm not in the firm must sell camp that I was in last year. To me Sale is the fulcrum to having a good shot on the postseason. Paxton, Bello and pray for rain. Since Paxton appears happy here. Why not extend him? Instead of trading him. Just sayin

"the Red Sox farm system cannot develop starting pitchers." Almost overnight, that appears to be untrue. My fingers are crossed. But, it’s a bit early to take a victory lap. Bello is really the only one who looks like a legit top 2-3 starter so far. The others have good stuff. But, have to see them string a bunch of starts together.

I could see the Red Sox like this guy. Nah, we need a cute little middle infielder. Who needs Power arms?

We’ve stunk for 4/5 years now. So, the probability of stinking is pretty high next year too. Why? We can’t develop pitching. Shohei Ohtani isn’t walking through the door. Honestly, why would he come here? Given better options. Money, team and weather in LA with Dodgers Are you really sure that 5 years is the timeframe you want to be using? Last time I checked, 5 years ago was 2018, which went pretty okay. 2020 and 2022 they stunk, but 2021 they made the ALCS and in 2019 they were 6 games over .500. If that's "stinking", then I'm sure a lot of teams would love to stink. They have certainly had years in the recent past in which they've fallen on their face, but you're incredibly spoiled if you think that it's been that bad overall. I started with 2019. Because, we’re gonna stink as this year by the end.

It’s pretty f’n cold in Maine for a kid from DR in April and May. I’d hazard a guess that played into his slow start. He never lived/played in cold weather in his life.

We’re 5 1/2 out of 3rd wild card. MFY’s. We need a good week to stay alive. A bad week and trade deadline thread gonna pop up.

Ok. I’ll give ya 2-6😂 The dark reality is that I don’t see a way out of basement the next couple of years. I see a way out of the basement I don’t see a way over that Tampa lineup for a bit tho O’s about to add; Henderson, Rodriguez and Cowser. Already better than us. Sure, we have Marcelo coming. They have Jackson Holliday. We also have 200m committed to next year’s payroll.

They have better starters, play better D, hit with much more power, and run the bases significantly better. What’ya expect? is 2-6 or 3-5 asking too much ? Ok. I’ll give ya 2-6😂 The dark reality is that I don’t see a way out of basement the next couple of years.

i will lay it on the line, most of you know me well by now, i am quite pissed off at the likely prospect of being 1 -7 against these guys this year and that is going to filter down any number of ways. They have better starters, play better D, hit with much more power, and run the bases significantly better. What’ya expect?

what is most upsetting to me is we never get the stud starting pitcher from the farm. Lester was the last guy. Hoping on Bello, but it is ridiculous how little we develop on that end. Those of us old enough to remember Clemens can tell you, it is a GD great feeling. It’s hard to develop em if ya don’t draft em. We simply don’t draft power arms high. Can’t wait to add another middle infielder in next month’s 1st round.
