I'd love to see the exit velocity on that hit by Betts. Scorched.

Hey! We can have big innings at the expense of the other team's ineptitude too.

Terrific slide to make up for a bonehead move.

"I can't refute the point being made, so instead I'll attack the person making it!" I did refute it multiple times dude. No you didn't. You keep repeating that the ball was hit hard. You ignore the fact that a competent RF catches that ball, and you ignore the subsequent bloop that Holt flubbed which also would have ended the inning. Buchholz did his job.

I'm not the only one who thinks you're wrong. Look in the mirror. And I'm not the only one to point this out on the game day thread. "I can't refute the point being made, so instead I'll attack the person making it!"

Unbelievable.
This is an inning that should have never happened.

Looks like JF may have waited too long to get a RH up in the pen. The wolves are going to be at his door if he gets beat with Layne facing a RHH here. He should've left Buchholz in. A manager should be able to distinguish between bad pitching and bad results. Agree with this.

Need better defense than this. Two XBHs that should be errors.
Can't give any team five outs in an inning.

It's not about the money. Failure hurts, period.

This is a pretty good glimpse into how the struggle and subsequent demotion have affected Clay and his family. Have to feel for him some. Hope he figures it out and carves out a solid role for himself.

I know it's the Twins, but this has been a clutch outing by Wright after the bullpen-eater yesterday.

Love the fire with which he plays the game. Always been a fan. I appreciate what he contributed and I'm glad he got a ring here. EDIT: Also, what a BS double that was that led to that run.

He looked good through 3 innings. He left with a lead. We have 2+ years left. He's on cheap arbitration money. I'm remaining real positive. Generally agree. Had the wheels come off in the fourth there, but I saw enough to believe that was an aberration - his first three innings were somewhat inefficient in terms of pitch count, but otherwise very effective. Wanted his first outing to go better than that, but there are positives to take from this as well.

Terrific showing for Barnes. Bailed the team out on a night when nobody else could get outs.

I missed it. What happened at the end here? Koji came in for the top of the 9th and got one out. The next batter he threw a pitch and kind of stretched his arm back (like he was scratching his back). Then he shook off pitches and threw a slider for the next pitch and grabbed at his shoulder/upper bicep/peck area and called for help from the dugout. Thanks. Wish him a speedy recovery.

My kneejerk reaction yesterday is that this trade is terrifying. My 'morning after' assessment is the same.
There are just so many places for variance. Pomeranz could realistically be anything from a legit #2 or even borderline ace... To a backend starter with Buchholz-type durability. Espinoza could get hurt and flame out in AA, or he could be the league's best pitcher in five years.
I don't like the trade because I prefer a patient approach, and losing AE hurts. But it's defensible. I hope our scouts know what they are doing.
