I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out until the finals (if they make it that far).

Yoshida news- Being imaged by a hand specialist tomorrow per Speier. Sounds like a IL trip for sure coming. The dawn of Kavadas (No I don’t really expect them to add him to the 40 man)

What is change analysis? How would you use projections to do it? See SoxStats above: By determining the change in a performance index - the increase in WRC+ in his post. As the season progresses and more data is accumulated, it re-centers the distribution and tightens up the projection. A video of that change would be a nice visual I think. The fact that projections change doesn’t mean that they should be ignored either. Nothing is infallible, and all a projection gives you is one lens to look forwards through.

ZiPS thinks O'Neill is all the way back to his 2021 self offensively, projecting 143 the rest of the way. Yeah, he's murdering the ball with also the best BB% and K% of his career. If the Sox think they can keep him healthy, he seems like a really good candidate to keep around beyond this year and break up our plethora of lefties.
The thing that stands out the most in terms of what he’s doing differently this year is picking his pitches to hit. His Z-Swing is 55% and his career average is 68%. He’s swinging at the fewest pitches of his career so the high BB% is no shock, but that’s a very but difference in swings in the zone.

Busch is playing an incredible 1B tonight for a guy who was kind of thought of as a DH

I cannot wait til Hamilton is sent back to Worcester— a completely unserious Major League Baseball player He plays like it’s some fan in a make a wish type of situation in spring training. I think Will Ferrell looked more of the part of a major leaguer. It’s probably mainly nerves, but he has a profoundly negative impact almost every time he plays. It’s a whole different level of bad.

When Grissom and Gonzales come back I’d like to see Dalbec and Valdez go down. Keep Hamilton for pinch running No just send Hamilton to mars. He’s so bad. Yet another run about to be scored because he can’t catch, touch a base, or throw a baseball

I wonder if they pinch hit O’Neill for Reese and finally try Refsnyder at 1B

They're professionals, getting paid to play ball. I'd trade places with the "worst" of them, whatever that means. They are not bozos. Sorry, relative bozos. Wow now you’re coming after their relatives? Classless

By that logic you might as well just start all of your bench players so you can PH your starters in key situations... Getting the extra ABs is way more valuable, because you get fewer key situations to begin with by sitting your starters.
No, but when you are working with a depleted roster, and defensive restrictions, that's what you do. Sigh We can critique these decisions all day long, but what really mattered is that he left a mediocre arm that couldn’t find the plate in against one of the best players on earth leading to a grand slam. The rest is pretty inconsequential IMO.
