Take out a professional hitter and bring in a guesser. Dumb.

I, for one, agree that this will be a fascinating off season. I get the inclination that this team will revert to "your father's Red Sox" i.e. plenty of hitting and not ready for prime time pitching. Probably too early to prognosticate, but the magic 8 ball agrees.

I really want the Sox to win tonight. A convincing win would go a long way. Do what they did to LA, after the 18 inning game 3 loss.

In the ongoing saga of " The Orioles embarrassing Chris Davis in order to tank," the guy is hitting .127/.186/.164 over the last month. And .168/.245/.297 with a -3.7 bWAR since the start of last year. Isn't Chris Davis embarrassing himself? Davis is contributing to their failure for sure, but they would suck anyway so I'm not sure it's fair to draw a direct correlation. As someone else pointed out, Nunez has been about as good over the same time period so it's not completely outrageous for the team to just be hoping that he turns things around and they get some sort of return on one of the worst contracts in sports. It may not be the most empathetic approach on the part of the team, but Davis is getting paid $23M per year to play baseball so I don't know that it's too much to ask that he play baseball. The Sox are paying a AAA Ofer $20M a year to play baseball. Probably more than Baltimore's AAA affiliates entire payroll.

When Vlad Jr. turns on a Chapman 103mph fastball and takes it out, then you can talk about his "hit tool", his genetics and being a "monster". Until such time I am pleased with Devers.

Last year the baseball Gods were extremely favorable toward the Red Sox. This year they have shown disdain for the World champions. This year, and indeed, the future is up to the self determination of the roster and the manager. I am perplexed by some of the recent roster moves, but I still believe the core has talent and pride. The ship will right itself I believe. We fans need to temper our expectations somewhat and have faith in what we know is a talented team overall.

The same people that had Hector Velazquez as our best starter (by a lot)? FWIW, Joe Kelly, despite his putrid start, could probably be in our rotation at this point ' Joe Kelly and Trevor Rosenthal are the only two pitchers in baseball--and quite possibly the only two upright mammals--that would make the Red Sox rotation worse than it has been. The Yetti contingent (Kopech and A. Webster) and the Sasquatch contingent (Trey Ball) take umbrage with your observation.

The new narrative for 2019..... Pedey returns and the Sox with 10 of 15 games.... and then some more. Starting pitching comes off Spring break, defense is rejuvenated, Pedey gets in Coraa's face after being replaced for a day off. The Sox are fun again.

Last years start (17-2) felt surreal to me. This years' start gives me a surreal feeling of a different nature. Stumbling out of the gate is annoying. I take solace in that this is not the Kentucky Derby, but instead the Boston Marathon. Carry on gentleman and show us your metal.

The good (Sale stepped Up), the bad (the offense went to sleep), the ugly (they ran on Laureano.. again).
