Ok, “Hammy” can ride on the plane back to Boston now. Actually, he can pick any seat he wants on the plane.

Still, it’s a pretty awesome throw.

11-pitch AB, no fastballs thrown, and couldn't put away a high strikeout hitter in Moniak who grounded out hard. Don't you have to throw the fastball at least sometimes to set up the offspeed? Isn’t it freakin awesome when we can find this much wrong with a shutout (so far). edit. Not bashing you Kev. I totally get your point.

I can proudly attest, and my text record shows, that I was pro Duran from the darn beginning ! Same. Hell, I’d walk his dog or mow his lawn for free.

I’ve been hoping as much as anyone that Dalbec will turn out to be a valuable player. I can’t say I’m crazy about him as the DH tonight.

For anyone who is wanting him to get sent down, just give the kid a chance. The season just started. I always try to be patient with prospects knowing that Dustin Pedroia was not very good for a couple months in 2007. Then the laser show started and he’s the ROY.
Not saying that’ll happen with Rafaela, but it’s got a non-zero chance.

This is random, but it seems incredibly dangerous to be doing this interview during the game with the way the A’s dugouts offer so little protection from foul balls.

Besides the tootblan, I gotta say, I freakin love Jarren Duran. He’s tons of fun to watch.

Valdez batting 1.000. No need to rush back V Grissom.

Wow this ump blows this is crazy for so early in the game It’s not so bad when you just concede that umpires are terrible humans.

I just saw that Tyler O’Neill has jacked a long ball on opening day four years in a row. It’s the longest streak since 1900. I need this streak to continue!

Not gonna lie, I’m excited to start another baseball season even if I’m not terribly optimistic about the team’s chances. I love this baseball team and that’s something that is a fundamental part of who I am. I’m looking forward to sharing another season with this wonderful bunch of Sox fans.

Declined Sox's invitation to Opening Day, honoring the 2004 World Series winners and Tim Wakefield. What a turd. I didn't even like him in 2004. You didn’t like Curt Schilling in 2004? That’s a really unique opinion from a Sox fan. Like, you were the only one. He started 32 games, won 21 of them and fished 2nd for a Cy Young Award. Oh, and the team won a historic world championship. I get it that he screwed up his legacy but he couldn’t buy a beer at any bar in all of New England. Not starting a thing with you. I’ve just never heard that.

If ever there was a season this century to focus on the minor league talent, it’s this one. It’s a roster completely without any compelling star players (Raffy is great but not my definition of compelling and Jansen has a historic career but likely won’t finish the season wearing Red Sox). I’ll pull hard for a win 162 times but I’m inclined to think I’ll get much more satisfaction from individual performances than from team success. I’m most interested to watch Duran, Casas, Bello, Houck, Whitlock and Vaughn Grissom when he returns. It would be exciting to see good things from Rafaela and Abreu too. I hope Trevor Story is healthy but I worry about his durability. A sell-off seems certain at the deadline this year further impacting win totals. I’m not likely to attend a game this year since that always involves a road trip for me.
I hate it that I’m entering a baseball season this pessimistic and with almost no hope of playoff baseball. I was only a game off in predicting last season’s wins. I hope I eat these words.
Seventy-six wins. 😕
